I am going to continue with my story regarding my trip to Thailand last week. I had divided it into several posts so feel free to read my previous posts in Hat Yai and how to enter border of Thailand by car.

Island hopping is a must do activity here in Krabi. Some of the companies offer good packages. Krabi’s turquoise waters and pristine beaches have attracted many to its shores. With a myriad of natural assets that offer visitors a wide array of outdoor activities, it is no wonder that Krabi is a traveller’s paradise.

However, with dozens of islands scattered around a 150 kilometre-long coast, planning an island-hopping trip to this popular beach destination can be quite overwhelming for many. Plus, I know how painful travel research can be! You need to be precise in choosing a good package. My husband and I also found out that some of the packages offer was exactly the same but with very different price, they gave you discount but bear in mind, the price set was actually higher than it is!

OUR TOUR WENT SOMETHING LIKE THIS..

The alarm goes off at an unfortunately early hour in the morning, given that we’re on vacation. We took our time getting out of bed and got ready with eyes half shut. A tour guide promptly picked us up from our hotel at 8:00 am and we hopped onto a van. After a 30 or so minute bus ride, we were all herded off the bus and into a nearby jetty. There, many tourists were dropped off and were waiting for speedboat / longtail boat to go to their respective islands.

Island 1 : Pakbia Island / Pak Bai Island

After a short longtail boat ride, we made it to our first stop at Pakbi Island. We were given 50 minutes to explore the beach where there were spectacular scenery of beautiful limestone cliffs surrounding us. Unfortunately, there were also sea of people surrounding us. In other words, the beach was crowded with other tourists, which really took away from the scenery that I am certain would be breathtaking if there were only a handful of us on the beach. Husband and I took many pictures for the first island, mainly with the limestone cliff as our backdrop, hehe!

Island 2 : Lading Island

We set sail to our next island which was Lading Island. We were given some fruitful information regarding Lading Island from our tour guide. So, the word Lading is originally from Indonesian word which means knife.

I enjoyed little moments I spent here with my husband and friends. This island was small, but the atmosphere in there was very calming and warm. A really good place to chill. We also spotted a soon to be bride, shooting for her pre wedding, perhaps. We also had our lunch in this island. The lunch provided had sambal budu which is always been my favorite! I could see some of the tourists spit out, and even threw away the sambal into nearby rubbish bin. Haha! Maybe they were not familiar with the taste. The lunch was quite good, worth the money.

We also went to the back of Lading Island. It was an ideal place to get your perfect OOTD for instagram photo. Unfortunately, they were many tourists queing up and waiting for their turn to have a proper photoshoot there. We skipped this part of course and went for a swim. Husband was having a great time swimming, he said he did not want to skip the swimming part. He mentioned 'You never know exactly when you are going to Krabi in the near future, so enjoy this moment B!' :D

#Island 3 : Hong Island

This was our final stop for the day. This beach is much wider on this island, but it looked much more crowded than the 1st and 2nd island. Our tour guide gave us 3 hours to spend on the island. In this island, it has nature trail where you can go for a hike and watch the different island from on top of the cliff. It was really hot that evening, the temperature was 36°C. We wandered about the island for a bit at the same time finding the perfect spot for chilling. We ended up choosing at the end of the island, where there was this huge cliff which could give us enough shade to reduce the sunburn, hehe!

All of us were given gear for snorkelling and a life jacket by our tour guide. Unfortunately, there was really nothing to see in the water, save for a few unimpressive fish. Seems to me like this island is only on the tour for the rock and the fish. But, in my ever so-humble-opinion, the rock isn't that hong' in compared to other islands I'v seen, and sadly only a single type of fish shown under the clear blue waters :')

The most impressive part of Hong Island is it's lagoon. It was so satisfying to our eyes, up until now, I still imagine it as an untouched paradise on earth. I really wish it can be maintained, the way it is. I hope there is no pollution or what sort which can ruin the beauty of it.
