Today was indeed a great Saturday not just because it's the weekend but also I bought some gold with Hive, how awesome is that!
Though it was not that big of an amount, I really love the idea of accumulating gold little by little. Well you know, just like gold hunters where they tend to harvest a small portion of gold until eventually, it becomes a big chunk.
Hive can be a real use-case.
While many others prove that Hive can be used to buy a tangible product, here I would like to also prove that Hive can also be used to buy gold.
Distributing my investment to a different kind of portfolio has always been one of the big goals I wanted to achieve here on Hive. Reading a lot of financial books has ultimately taught me that to "always put your eggs in different baskets". Here, it significantly proved the idea that Hive can be a source of additional income to those who want to grab the opportunity.
How I bought some Gold with Hive.
Buying gold has been proven to be a smart move because gold is not significant with the economy. Hence, making gold not affected with inflation.
First and foremost, I was really happy because this case can only be realized with the help of Hive feature @swap.app developed by @cardboard. In fact, this feature was one of the most features I waited since on Steem, an instant transfer of Hive to Bitcoin wallet. Safely encrypted and operates much faster.
To me, using @swap.app is straight-to-the-point withdrawal process which makes it easy and fast!
I used Luno wallet because it is a regulator authorized by our government which makes processes smooth and regulated (safe & trusted). I received the Hive swapped to Bitcoin instantly to my wallet (the process required 3 confirmations which took around 10 minutes), talk about fast!
Subsequently, the withdrawal of Bitcoin to my bank account also didn't take a long time (around 10 minutes) probably because the amount wasn't big. Surprisingly, the fees were quite cheap and this made me really happy!
As soon as I got the money, I then top-up my wallet (Boost) since it can be connected and used to buy gold.
Then, I made two simple buying confirmation from Boost to Hello Gold, boom! Bought a small portion of Gold. To be precise, digital gold but still worth the same.
I am really happy to have done this because I bought it using Hive, and if you look at a bigger picture, more things can actually be done!
Another extra feature I like making a purchase of gold with Hello Gold because I get rewarded with some points which I can use to redeem Gifts later on.
All-in-all, this is the overall Hive and Gold involved during the purchasing process.
Hive withdrew: 30 Hive
Fees: 0.2 Hive (0.7%) ~ Approx. MYR25.00 ($5.86)
Bitcoin withdrew: MYR25.00 ($5.86)
Fees: MYR0.50 ($0.12) ~ 2%
Bitcoin received: MYR24.50 ($5.74)
Gold bought: MYR24.50 ($5.74)
I had no idea you could buy gold with Hive. It did seem there was a lot of steps involved. Thanks for the info.
I had to liquidate into fiat first in order to buy gold. But, it was a good Hive spent.
Maybe you could put in a link to hello gold?
I don't intend to put my refferal link, but you can search for Hello Gold link on Google 😉
I don’t think it’s going to work for an Australian
Too bad, but probably there are other similar app there.
Ok thanks I will
All the best !
