My Dear Fellow Steemians,
Steemit has become part of our life, similar to other Social Media platform out there and we all know by creating Good Quality Contents and Engaging with Fellow steemians around the world will earn some monetary benefit. We all know, we made some money through Steemit platform and by giving back to the community who needs it more than us, deserve to be introduced.
About 3 weeks ago, #teammalaysia Sabah had a discussion about events for meet-up's, boot camps, masterclass but something was missing, which is "giving back to the community Program". Therefore, we decided to hold our 1st #teammalaysia Sabah Charity Drive. Right after that, local champion @beverlyjoe, @chanelcalestus, @haroldmark86 and myself @veenang automatically set the date for the first meeting, we had to streamline on how, what, when, where we heading on this program. Then immediately after we contacted our Proxy Witness @bitrocker2020 and Steemit Ambassador @danieldoughty to briefly inform the actions plan and the rest was just to execute it.
SAN DAMIANO BOYS HOSTEL
There is a story on how we stream-down chosen San Damiano Boys Hostel for this charity drive, through meetings and local contacts, we got to know that this center is in need for Daily Food necessities, their food banks is replenishing fast. We decided to recce this place and hook up with the warden of this center to get to know the center and the place in need. So myself @veenang, @chanelcalestus, @viverridae @matthewdoughty and Steemit Ambassador @danieldoughty went to inspect the center.
San Damiano Boys Hostel located in the rural area of Kiulu, about 41km from Kota Kinabalu City, and they provides boarding facility to the ongoing school boys (Form 1 to Form 6) at SMK Tun Fuad, which is the only secondary school in that area. Without this facility, these boys will find difficult to attend school due to the distance from their homes village. Currently, there are 51 boys in the hostels. It was splendid meeting with the warden, we started by introducing our self (who we are), and etc. Further, add-on by @danieldoughty to briefly introduce #steemit to the warden, and gave him the idea Self Empowerment thru #steemit platform. We continue to explain that if the boys could write and post in Steemit, they not only improve their writing skills but also improve the language better plus earning money at the side for boys hostels.

Welcoming Singing Song by the Boys,
Donation Gift Handover follow with Tea Break
Prelude Performance by @darryljonesjr and his band for acoustics percussion/teaching basic introduction to playing guitar and percussion
Games arrange by @chanelcalestus & @haroldmark86, @beverlyjoe and others to help in.
Game Prize Presentation follow by Prayer before Lunch

Goal
We set a goal of RM3000.00 (USD775.00), nonetheless looking at Steem/SBD rates now, it seems quite an uphill task. We would like to encourage everyone who is reading this to support this charity drive. When we had the meeting with warden Vincent, he informed us of some of the items that are needed urgently such as:
- Rice (Beras)
- Dark / Light Soya Sauce, Salt/Sugar, Tomato / Chilli Sauce
- Milo / Nestum / Coffee Powder
- Sweet Condensed Milk
- Kaya Spread / Peanut Butter
- Cooking Oil
- Assorted Biscuits
- Tomato / Chilli Sauce
- Eggs / Flour
- Dish Washing/Clothes Detergent
Apart from purchasing these essential goods, we will also be organizing a special treat for the boys - a simple luncheon and some gifts for the lucky winner of activities and games.

I saw many charity project on Steemit. Steemit is not only a place where we share our story but also a place connects people on over the world. To be honest that is a quite fascinating way to help people in need.
