That sounds a great solution and by the sounds of it it has worked a treat! The problem here seems to be that the water has nowhere to go as everything is blocked up. This year has been different in that way. Before the rainwater soaked of the fields within a day or so but this year it's just going nowhere.

That's what I understand - the ground was already saturated before more heavy rain came. It must be heart breaking for people whose homes or businesses are damaged. Even with insurance, there's all the disruption and trying to sort everything out.
