I'd say there's nothing here to sway you away from Ubuntu, if that's your cup of tea. A lot of people are still using Windows 7, especially businesses. Personally, I find it outdated and uncomfortable to use but hey, it does get the job done. Worse still, there are more people still using XP than the entire userbase of macOS and Linux combined!

It's funny that we still use ancient versions of Office at work and the experience isn't much different from XP, but it is adequate for what we do. Businesses care more about stability than the latest features.
Ubuntu is going through interesting times as they are dropping their Unity desktop to cut costs.
Yes, I read about that. I quite liked Unity actually - always felt more friendly than GNOME to me.
