Google seems to be preparing a major reshuffle for Gmail e-mail service besutannya. After announcing a new design plan, there is now news that Gmail will be able to send self-deleted e-mail.

This feature seems to be inspired by a message containing the mission that a secret agent must run in the Mission Impossible movie. Messages sent in the form of an audio tape will automatically burn within seconds after being heard by the secret agent.

According to newly-released version of Gmail screenshots, the feature appears in the form of a small padlock icon called "confidential mode" or "secret mail" in the compose window in the new Gmail interface.

If the user activates the confidential mail feature by clicking this icon, the recipient of the e-mail will not be able to forward the corresponding e-mail, the roof also copy-paste, download, or print it

In addition, e-mail sent with confidential mode will also be deleted itself after a certain period of time post delivery.

The "expiration" period can be set by the user, for example for e-mail deleted after one week, one month, and others.

To ensure that the recipient of the confidential is really the intended person, the user can ask the recipient to confirm his identity first via the message code sent via Short Letter

On the receiving end, confidential mode comes in the form of a link that must be clicked to go to the secret e-mail. In this case the Google implementation is different than, for example, ProtonMail which also implements self-deleted e-mail.
ProtonMail removes the secret e-mail from the receiving inbox and outbox of the sender after a certain period of time. Meanwhile, Gmail only sends links, then deletes e-mails behind links after some time, while the intermediate e-mails containing the links persist.

As summarized by TechCrunch KompasTekno, this confidential mode feature is still experimental and not necessarily applied in Gmail redesain final version later. It is not clear how to implement it with non Gmail users.
