The new version is more compact in every dimension than its predecessor. From both sides, it has a glance surface and is shaped like a small box with rounded edges.
Hardware
The Fire TV (2017) is powered by the new quad-core Amlogic processor with Mali-450MP3 GPU unit. The RAM amount is 2 GB, while the internal storage amount is equal to 8 GB. It supports 4K@60fps streaming, HDR-10 enhanced color gamut and Dolby Atmos.
The device still needs to be powered using the dedicated wall outlet. It connects to TV using HDMI cable.
HD Antenna
The HD Antenna allows you to watch cable TV networks.
Remote control
The gadget comes with Alexa Voice Remote, which supports full range of Alexa functions. It can also pair with Amazon Echo.
Price and availability
The device will be available in US for 69 USD from October 26. Optional packages with Amazon Echo Dot or HD Antenna cost 79 USD and 74 USD.
Verdict
Upgraded in any possible manner (new processor, HDR-10, 4K@60fps, smaller dimensions), this is the best Amazon Fire TV yet.
Should you buy it?
Yes, if you need the HD Antenna and integration with Amazon services. If not, compare it with concurents like Google Chromecast and make your choice.
