Off course, it is some sort off. However, there is some issues that we are still not able to solve with our collective intelligence- poverty, inter-stellar travel, cancer etc. For more discussion, "Superintelligence" by Nick Bostrom is a highly recommended book.

My concern right now isn't about superintelligence - yes, it's a problem but not as big as SuperStupidity. Think of it this way; we'll have AIs making decisions faster than we can review the decisions and those AIs are controlled by organisations with competing interests. What this means, is that previously you can fall into a beaurocratic crack at human speed. Give AI the potential powers of life and death (e.g. self-driving cars) and accelerate the decision making speed and watch humans disappear into a zillion SuperStupidty cracks.
