Elon Musk's East Coast Hyperloop - What Cities Would You Connect?

Living in Philadelphia, I was pretty excited when I saw the news today that Elon Musk's start-up - The Boring Company, had received government approval to start working on the Hyperloop that would connect NYC , Philadelphia, Baltimore, and DC.

As the day went on, it seems no officials from any of the four cities were able to provide this to be a true statement. According to The Boring Company, the tunnel would be built underground and it would only take 29 minutes to get from NYC to DC. Knowing this trip typically takes 3 hours, even with an Express train, I thought that would be such a game changer. I work in Center City Philadelphia and typically don't need to travel for my job, but knowing that I could get to our NYC office or just NYC and DC in general, in just minutes, opens up so many possibilities.

The concern that would always linger for me is the speed it travels. It's estimating that the Hyperloop would move at 750MPH. A few years ago, a high speeding (100MPH) Amtrak train derailed and crashed right outside of Philly, killing 8 and injuring about 200. (Pre-destined thanks to the movie Unbreakable?)((Literally same train line)). I can only imagine what a mishap at that speed would cause.

So I end this post with a question...

If you could choose where the Hyperloop goes, what cities would you like to see

Hi, I´m a robot, I just upvoted you! I found content that might give others more insight about your topic:

great, thanks!

It's never happening. The hyper loop is a coffin. However... With this knowledge you can wait for it's failure, buy Tesla stocks when they take a dive. Make money on the recovery!

Great point, lol. I happen to have a fear of tight spaces, the thought of this being a tight underground tunnel just elevated my heart rate

It's not so much his hyperloop anymore...its his Boring company, and it's looking promising.

Check out what happens in a vacuum and why we don't have them. Even though the tech is over 100 years old. This will fail. No amount of well wishing can trump science.

The HYPE train behind Elon Musk is incredible. Tesla's suck, his hyperloop will be a death trap. SpaceX will run out of investors at some point.

dude you are the biggest hater ive ever ran across in my life. You sound miserable. I drive a tesla and I have a variety of gas guzzlers. The tesla is by far the best american car I've owned. All of your comments are negative which must be rooting from your low self esteem.

This I hope will be future of the traveling. We should really move away from using planes and change them with hyperloop or hyper speed magnetic trains. Happy to see the move in that direction.

Agreed! We should be advanced at this point in science, to travel anywhere in the globe at a reasonable price and time. As much progress as we have made in the past twenty years, I'm surprised we don't already have this

If that is true, take 29 minutes to get from NYC to DC. Then what kind of transport system is it?

It is a system where magnetically levitating capsules are sent at high speeds through low-pressure tubes, thereby potentially reducing transport time — of people and goods — by more than 80% and it is already being developing between Abu Dhabi & Dubai.

its still in test stages but it's called a Hyperloop

Elon Musk is the man! If anyone is going to get us to Mars, he is. There is a good chance that he can take the world off of the power grid in 20 years too just by solar energy. Once he releases his automated vehicles, I'm totally getting it and uber-ing it out! haha
