Ray Kurzweil Interview on Future of AI, February 15, 2017

in #technology8 years ago

In this interview, Ray Kurzweil explains how we will connect our neocortex to the cloud to take our next evolutionary step, after two million years. We will enhance our immune system with microscopic circulatory machines that will recognize all pathogenic organisms and cancerous cells. Also, he says that there are always intertwined promises and perils in technology advancements, but we will probably be okay.

I don't know? Ray Kurzweil is so pro AI and merging with the cloud because he is so scared of his own ego's death. He doesn't want to play by the rules we have all played by(everything). Ray is special though. He irritates me. lol

His predictions are based on the notion of exponential rate of scientific progress. I think that makes sense.

I understand. Moores law. RIght? The rate at which transistors will be able to fit on a chip doubling every 28 months ad infinitum. Have a look at this my friend. This is the problem. https://www.technologyreview.com/s/601441/moores-law-is-dead-now-what/

Yes, that's a fair point.

I like ray anyhow. so I upvoted it and will resteem. add me as a friend we can keep each other on point. :-)

Thank you for upvoting and resteeming. And I found your blog posts very interesting. Hope to read more in the future.

That was an excellent video. I am a big fan of Kurzweil even though I dont agree with everything he says. He is one of the most accurate predictors of the future based upon his forecasts the past 30 years. The only reason we use the term exponential is because of him. He is also the reason I bought some Google stock. I know they are one of the evil empires...yet I believe with him on board, their AI division will be one of the best.

His arguments about optimism seemed logical and convincing. It's nice to hear some optimism about the future of human beings.
