Very interesting! Looks like there are many emerging technologies that will help make sustainable energy far more efficient.

Just out of curiosity, what material/technology did the "44.5% efficient" solar cell use?

The cell uses gallium antimonide substrates as the novel part, built on top of normal (I guess silica based) cells. They are stacked on top of each other for max efficiency.

Never heard of it, but thanks for letting me know. I'll look into it :)
