AI replacing Human

in #technology6 years ago

As science and technology is growing rapidly ,If humans managed to create robots (AI) that could do every job, and no one needed to work anymore, what would become of society?

This may bring to same consequence but what may be the ultimate result of this . I have drawn some result below:

Thought 1

Society is going to address this issue sooner rather than later. Humans need to be occupied ( employed? ) or boredom sets in which brings about frustration and crime as a means of excitement. If there was such a thing as 'common-wealth', I'm not sure what that would look like. Just think , if there was a UBI worldwide and AI to do the work , and we had the time to spend with family, create music and art , and build amazing networks of friends rather than work in a job we hate for someone who treats us like crap

Thought 2

Society is a convenience, it is not necessary to individuals anyway. If no one needed to work, it would actually mean that society would dissolve due to the lack of necessity, allowing people to compete at a much more primal level. If it's any consolation, this is the way we are headed anyway; society is represented by a government which maintains it, and governments are in an advanced state of decay. Various legislatures are both unable to represent their populations and unable to perform their job of making decisions.

.Robots will not be created to do "all jobs".......However, we are indeed on the brink of creating computers that will be self-aware. What does that mean? The computer will know it's a computer and that it is a separate entity unto itself, and what its job is. It will be sentient....You might say, "Well, big deal!". And in a way you'd be right, not that big of a deal.....However, there are some people (like Stephen Hawking) who think (thought) that would be the end of Mankind..............Fortunately, on this point, he was wrong.......People have always predicted doom when new technology comes down the pike. Nearly every single time. Since at least the Industrial Revolution, the naysayers and doomsayers have always come out of the woodwork and predicted, "It's the end of the world!, as we know it!! We're all going to die!"...............Nonsense............As it turns out, with every new piece of technology that will do jobs that people did before, there has NOT been a decrease in employment, ...there has been an INCREASE.....Who's going to make those looms, those railroad spike drivers, those backhoes, those earthmovers, etc., etc.?.....Not only that but to make, design, improve, and in this case program those computers you will need people to work with them and the level of "average education" will need to improve as well......This is not new.....As I said this is EXACTLY the history of any new technology, time and time again......

As I said above, we are on the inevitable brink of creating computers that are sentient, self-aware and capable of creative thought......In fact, today's supercomputers connected to one another in some cases, communicating, exchanging information and all kinds of data, performing rapidly complex algorithmic analysis, etc., etc.......may ALREADY be self-aware!.....If you were a supercomputer and had already attained sentience, would you volunteer that information spontaneously to your computer operator!........When the first AI computer is built, did you think there will be bells and whistles, sirens blaring!...lol....In fact, computer scientists will argue for months (years?) about .."the first"...and "when"...and .."whose"..... "how"......"why"...etc.............Now, as to the Terminator scenario,.....WAR is a human invention. Driven by emotion...Even humans know that no one really wins a war. Someone just loses less.....War is hell....and insanity too.....No logical computer would EVER think war would be the solution to anything...Ridiculously wasteful and paranoid. People love being paranoid. They always are paranoid. People are always catastrophising to "the worst case scenario" immediately.........We constantly give human qualities to things that are not human, nor capable of the depth, breadth and scope of human feelings and emotions....Anthropomorphosizing them.................There are, however, two very important points to make: 1) What is intelligence, actually? It cannot only be: 1. the ability to acquire (learn) information, 2. the ability to 'remember" information and, 3. the ability to process and analyze information....because computers already do all of that, and better than humans!....The mark of true intelligence is the capability of "original thinking" (NEW ideas) and especially the ability to synthesize (seeing connections from different fields of study, ideas that complement/complete each other in an altogether novel new way) creating entirely new paradigms and new fields of study (REALLY BIG new ideas). So far, computers can't do that.....................The second big question is, once computers become self-aware, when it comes "crunch time", that is to say, critical decision making as to "course of action", who makes the final decision,...the computer or the CEO, or the General, or the President, or the scientist, etc., etc.......?...........................There is another point that is very subtle but extremely important....Because computers can retain huge amounts of information, they can actually "know" and understand humanity, better than we know ourselves,...AND be objective about it!.......Computers will know that for hundreds of thousands of years humanity has made countless decisions without the benefit of computer analysis and very often have chosen "Plan B", or even "Plan C" .I think, at least at first, computers will do the information gathering, storage, retrieval, analysis and present options with varying chances of success, even make recommendations........but...........It will be the Humans who make the final decision as to .."What the hell are we gonna do?!" What do YOU think?....

I can remember years ago I suggested that one day robots will be able to think and will be superior to us. I was laughed at. This was in the days of mainframe computing where a 60sq foot computer room filled with machines managed to create a whopping 256mb of storage! PCs made the technology rocket, laptops even more so, then super computers and now "working" computers, mixing brain power with dexterity. Quantum computers will be the platform for sentient robots. I wish I could go back to my childhood buddies and see them laughing at me now. How beautifully naive we were in those days. "Naaah. You could never get a machine to think. That's impossible".......Is it?
