in #technology7 years ago (edited)

Cyber crime is a situation which is continuously increasing and has seen many people fall for the belief that they might be just helpless victims, always on the receiving end of the cyber criminals. This is not entirely true and there are measures which will be important towards making sure that cyber criminals do not get the better of us by stealing or destroying information at will. It is often reported that in order that we always keep ahead of the cyber criminals and all other acts of cyber crime, we have to think like the cyber criminal. By understanding their way of doing things and how they hack we can take measures to protect our computers and devices and data in them.

The ongoing social media trend has created a fertile environment for cyber crime. Some of the Hackers send you pharmaceutical site promotions disguised as Google invitations and other links, New social media members mostly click on those links you may be hacked after that so never click on those promotional links. Other examples of the Cyber criminal activity include spamming, credit card fraud, software piracy, denial of service attacks, dissemination of child pornography, cyber bullying, computer viruses, phishing, email spying and cracking. The potential for harm is severe for not only business, but for casual users as well.

These hackers have destroyed the lives of many people, anyone can become the victim of these criminals so the most basic step is to keep up with your security updates and patches for your computer. There are software flaws and security breaches in all software. Software developers are constantly updating their product to protect you against attack. Many popular software programs will allow you to set up automatic downloads of updates and patches. It is recommended you take advantage of this feature. You need to make sure you configure your computer securely, especially your browser. Take the time to understand how this works or consult somebody who does. It can make the difference of blocking out harmful malware or letting it through to damage your system.

We use our password all the time and they must be secure. They must be strong and unique, something no one could guess. They must be kept in a safe place - it is best not to record them and store them anywhere on your computer or in email accounts that could be hacked. Passwords must be changed on a regular basis. When it come to preventing cyber crimes we must see all the factors that may be used against us and we should take measures to stop it.
