RE: Decentralize: How To Save Our Internet

in #technology8 years ago

I love it! I'll never forget that it was you who taught me, just by talking about it over @Ma1neEvent's radio show, what it actually means to be decentralized. After that night, I fully understood why blockchain technology and decentralized systems/networks are the future.

We as a society can not progress towards a better life for all when a small group has the ability to silence an idea in the blink of an eye.

Indeed. This is exactly why decentralized systems/networks are the future of the human race. If we are truly progressing towards a free and open society, then the openness and the blockchain technology provides is a key player in that.

Ideas that oppose our own is the best way to learn and grow as an individual. When these companies censor content and delete accounts, they are saying that only ideals they agree with are correct. This implies that all others are wrong and they might be but we as the user should make that choice for ourselves.

Exactly. This is why I never deleted/blocked anyone on Facebook, no matter how much their opinions on certain matters differed from my own. I never agreed with their stance, but I still appreciated seeing a different side of things because it keeps my life from becoming merely an echo chamber.

We will never have a free and open Internet without making the services (and hopefully the connections into) decentralized.

I fully believe that the blockchain technology is the key to our decentralized free and open internet future. It's not going anywhere but up from here. It's only a matter of time before the rest of humanity adopts it and it become the new paradigm. :)
