I am gonna tell you about a new internet. You have seen that all the big companies and social networking websites on the internet collect our data and use against us. They earn millions by the use of your personal informations. Most of them are charged for doing these kind of things.
You know that Tim Berners Lee invented the WWW(world wide web) and in 1995, WWW came completely and people started using it. So it is a great thing that the man who invented WWW is still alive and working like as usual. He also developed the http protocol so that we can share anything freely around the world.
But nothing is free in this world today. Everything you see or you use costs you directly or indirectly. So Tim Berners Lee is thinking of a new idea. He is thinking of making an internet service where no big companies store your personal data and we can ourselves store our data.
I don't know how much technological challenges are there behind this idea. But it is being developed.
It is an exciting project led by Tim Berners Lee and its name is Solid. He dreamt of free internet with freedom where no can can betray you or steal your data.
So the main concept is that whenever or whatever you surf on internet, your history, your downloading and uploading, whatever you share, pictures videos,etc., all the data will be stored on a pod.
So what's pod?
Pod can be different segments of stored encrypted datas on your computer. Whatever you are doing on the internet will be stored on your computer in the form of pods.
So the difference is that suppose if I am on the solid and I am using my pc then all my personal informations or data get stored on my computer and whenever I get online all the informations get uploaded online. The best is that only I would be able to share my datas to anyone on the internet wherever I like. I can host my datas wherever I like on any other hosting services unlike facebook or any other social media platforms.
It would get completed by the end of this year. And Tim will travel around the world teach all the developers how to work and develop on this platform. This would protect your privacy and would become first decentralised platform for the internet surfing.
So that's it.
