Recently Microsoft acquired the developers favorite developint platform Github, and there are rumors in many discussion forums that Microsoft will not favor open source projects. If you also think the same way then here are some github alternatives that you may like.
Some platforms are for free and others have a free trial, and can use them and check which works best for you.
1. GitLab
It is one of the best replacement for Github. GitLab is open source and it has very similar feel of the github. It is very easy to install into your own server. GitLab is also providing free migration from Github to GitLab. You can have a look on following video
2. BitBucket
If you are working with in a team then BitBucket can be quite useful as it is integrated with tools like Hipchat, Slack Trello, and Jira.
In BitBucket develpoers can generate their own integrations within UI, making Bitbucket more flexible. It has also integrates your projects with Two-factor authentication and Soc 2 Type II security which helps you to keep your code more secure.
3. Beanstalk
Beanstalk is easy to use, you can add files and create branches and edit files on the go within the browser. Beanstalk app claims that it does not requires any client which will ultimately makes work easier. We can request a code review, give reviews, and get to work with Beanstalk. Beanstalk supports both git and SVN.
4. SourceForge
SourceForge is also an alternative which has been around for many years. It not only supports Git but also Mercurial or Subversion and you can use the version control of your choice. If you are developing an open-source app SourceForge is a good place with affordable pricing. It supports many individual projects.
5. GitKraken
If you like UI the n GitKraken is the way to go as it has a beautiful UI and focuses on speed. It is ease of use for git. The free version allows up to 20 users, and in case you like the services and can upgrade your GitKraken account. One of the best features is you can Undo and Redo any mistakes.
