Microsoft to buy LinkedIn for $26.2 Billion in Cash

Microsoft is announcing today that it plans to acquire LinkedIn for $26.2 billion. LinkedIn with 433+ Million users is the largest work focusing social media giant. LinkedIn will exist independently and it will keep its own brand. Also, its CEO Jeff Weiner will remain and report directly to Satya Nadella. Both the Microsoft and LinkedIn boards have unanimously approved the deal. The deal is expected to be closed later this year.

As of today, this will be the largest acquisition made by Microsoft. Its CEO, Satya Nadella hinted about integrating LinkedIn with Microsoft Office 365 and Dynamics. Microsoft did the same with its previous acquisition Skype and Yammer. The LinkedIn acquisition will be the first major acquisition done be Nadella. It's success or failure will have huge impact on his career as the leader of Microsoft.
