The idea to introduce "non blockchain" blockchain token and ensure there is almost no cost to verify the transaction is extremely innovative.
However, I am very skeptical of IOTA being successful.
Bitcoin solves a real problem- allows 2 humans to transact without needing a trusted intermediary. We are far away from seeing a need where machines need to start trading and managing resources by themselves. It will be hard to see how IOTA clients will get installed in the billions of potential IOT devices and help create the network that can facilitate the growth of distributed block chain. What incentives do hardware IOT vendors have to embed IOTA software. It is over valued 10-100x at this time.
