A short video explaining the importance of resources.

The Venus Project proposes an alternative vision of what the future can be if we apply what we already know in order to achieve a sustainable new world civilization. It calls for a straightforward redesign of our culture in which the age-old inadequacies of war, poverty, hunger, debt and unnecessary human suffering are viewed not only as avoidable but as totally unacceptable. Anything less will result in a continuation of the same catalog of problems inherent in today's world.

And that's what The Venus Project propose in the long term towards the transition to a global Resource Based Economy.

As a FAQ mentions:

After agreement is attained by nations to move toward unification and sharing of the earth’s resources, a global survey of available resources, technical personnel, production plants, arable land etc. has to be done to provide us with sufficient information in order to ascertain the parameters of social design. During the initial phase the cybernated system being developed will serve as a data bank to tell us what is available. This will enable us to proceed with the design. The major initial task will be to provide food, water, shelter medical care and clean sources of energy...

Excellent reference to the FAQ page !!! Its RBE and a VP type society or its the end of modern society,,, take your choice. (actually the change is in progress and seems unstoppable from my perspective).
