I think this saying about the bridge also implies focussing on the NOW instead of things that might come. It takes a certain trust (in the world, in people, in a uber-being, whatever rocks your boat) to be in the now, unworried by things that might come.
One day I decided to simply trust in things, and I was surprised that many areas of life actually deserve this trust!
Nothing to add but: 'Soldier on, no matter which dircetion you go!'

There are some things you do have to plan for but a majority can be dealt with as they come in my opinion
