Before I begin, I would like to express a heartfelt condolence to all the victims and the friends and family of Heather Heyer, the young woman who tragically lost her life during the protest in Charlottesville, Virginia. I am not into politics nor do I care about politics. But what is happening affect all of us as a nation. I am sure that there are many of you who are enraged about the incident that happened in Charlottesville, but the worst part about this situation is seeing the reaction of the leader of our nation.
As we all know, our president is “The King of Twitter.” He is quick to put 140 characters on twitter to insult anyone who he feels will not bow to him or who simply disagree with his views. My question is, “What took the president so long to address this awful act and the loss of the life of an American citizen while countless others are injured? Not only did he take his time to address the American people, but this man could barely call “Evil” for what it is. This president normally jumps on twitter within minutes to insult others while leaving the American people in peril not knowing what is happening with our healthcare system. Meanwhile as the American people remained uncertain about the chaos and division their country is facing, the leader of our nation took several days before addressing the public. He waited for a few words to read from a teleprompter which deliberately had a few words about KKK, white supremacy and racism that he clearly was told to say in order to make the American people think that he is against the hatred and bigotry that has envelop our nation.
Not only did the leader of this country took his time to address this evil act, but instead of showing some kind of feelings of genuine empathy toward this family who just lost their love one. This president began his speech boasting about how much better the economy is. This is another way for him to show how much better he is than his predecessor. Only after his “EGO” had been inflated did that man finally decided to say a few words with no real feelings about the crisis our nation is facing. He had plenty of time to say all those things about the economy while inflating his ego, but he could not even take a few seconds to say the name “Heather Heyer” the woman who tragically lost her life from that awful tragedy.
Is this president the president of “All Americans” or “A Few Americans?” During the campaign, this man denied that he knew David Duke, the former leader of the KKK. Trump also claimed that he did not know anything about white supremacy and then we all found out that those were lies. During his campaign Trump was reluctant to speak out and denounce these hateful groups and today this man who is now our leader took “Several Days” to speak out once again about these groups. He claimed that he wanted to get the facts before coming forward. Since when has this man waited for facts? His idea of facts is running to post 140 characters on twitter insulting others and telling people that he has proof of things that he could never provide.
This man did not need facts to come out to address the nation with some comforting words while letting them know that the authorities are working on finding out all the facts. As a leader of this country, once he heard that there was an act of violence where there are people who may have been injured, he should have quickly come forward to let the public know that their leader is there for them and that they can count on him to do everything to get things under control. If it was something else he would have jumped on twitter or in front of the camera to let the whole country know how he feels, but he obviously had trouble coming forward to denounce these groups since he fears losing their support. In one of his statements, he claimed that some of these people from these hateful groups are “Fine People.” These are the same so call Fine People in the past that had caused division in our nation and had taken countless innocent lives as well as causing so many to fear for their lives.
No one can deny that racism in this country is real. But when you have the leader of the free world to constantly using insults to attack anyone who does not share his views, calling Mexicans rapists, women pig, making fun of a handicap individual, as well as speaking negatively about certain religious groups and attacking so many who he feels should not be part of our society. This man clearly has no respect for anyone, he has definitely made it clear who he represents. This man had claimed that he wants to unify this country, meanwhile throughout his campaign and now as the leader of this nation his words and actions has only shown hatred and division. I don’t think anyone should be surprise that these hateful groups come crawling out from their holes. It’s clear that they feel empowered by the words and actions of the leader of this country which align with their belief system.
It is with great sadness to see how this great country is sliding backward fairly quickly into a dark place. A place we have worked so hard to leave. This is not to say that racism and bigotry does not exist in America, but the flood of hatred that’s been pouring in the past year even in places that are very diverse has become more apparent. Our country has become a place of uncertainty. Division in our country is on the rise, any progress we have made as a nation is declining rapidly and now even our freedom of speech is at risk. Our leader, the individual who took an oath to protect “All” not “Some” Americans has no respect even for our constitution.
When you have a president who tramples down on our rights ordering the authorities to retrieve information, such as IP addresses of individuals as well as their names, addresses and financial information because he feels threatened by people who visited a website regarding those protesting against him clearly show a lack of confidence, the inability to lead this nation and the lack of respect for our rights. This also show that the freedom we all hold so dear is slipping away very quickly. Now, does that mean that we cannot even visit a website without fearing that we will get arrested? Our country, the land we call “The Land of The Free,” has now turned to a place of division and a country which now feel more like a place running by a dictator than the democracy we all cherish.
