Elon Musk is one of those who marches to a different beat.
Most are aware the SEC was looking into his Tweets about "Funding Secured" pertaining to taking Tesla private. Many legal experts view this awry of securities laws.
The SEC and Musk's legal team were in negotiations. It appeared that had a settlement in place according to reports. Now, the same reports are saying Musk pulled out at the last minute.
This is a big game of "cat and mouse". It is also a risky move on the part of Musk, one that could turn in his favor in the end.
