Secret men's Hash and the hare tried to kill us

in #thailand2 years ago

We are kind of not allowed to do Hash events right now but there are some locations that are out in the middle of nowhere that nobody cares so we went ahead and had one there anyway. The problem was that one of our overzealous and recently returned members must have forgot that we are not all training for the Olympics and made the trail too long for most of us.

For those of you out there that are young and in good shape 6.5 km is probably a warm up but we are mostly beer-guzzling retirees and aren't really prepared for this.

You never know what you are going to get on a hash an in this particular situation we were intentionally lied to by the hare. Shame on you Strangely Anal!

It is customary for our runs to be around 4-5 km. The only time that it is really considered acceptable for a run to be longer than this is when it is a specially planned event or it is announced beforehand. In this situation we were deliberately lied to by the hare, who told us the run was just over 4km. I don't know if he lied intentionally or is just a moron but i suspect it was both.

Our runs are not exactly just running around a track either. They normally incorporate rather unforgiving terrain that goes through the jungle and is almost never on flat ground. Thankfully it was a rather cool and dry day so we didn't have to lynch "Strangely" when we got back to the circle. There was some discussion about doing precisely that though.

One last thing about the Monday Hash meetups. As is tradition, there are no women allowed. This doesn't have anything to do with misogyny or anything stupid like that. we actually quite like having the lady folk at the things but when the Hash was formed it took place on Mondays and it was during a time when women weren't allowed to do a lot of stuff. It is merely tradition and is not that way for any other reason. To compensate for this there is a "Bunny Hash" that we have as well where men are not allowed to attend either.

This would probably result in lawsuits in other countries but if you are the type of person that likes to make problems for other people based on inclusion, you probably wouldn't be a good mix for the Hash House Harriers anyway since we are intentionally offensive on a regular basis.

Our inaugural and first officially and fully-legal Hash meetup happens this Thursday, so if you would like to join us in the Chiang Mai area we welcome all newcomers. You'll have a good time and make some new friends. Full details and contact information is available here
