Hello everyone! I thought it would be nice to start a new series that I will call #wheretoeatinbangkok. Since @eoj and I love to eat and we live in an awesome food paradise I thought it would be nice to share our favorite eating spots in the city so that people who wanted to visit would be inspired. Maybe enough to go and enjoy the meal that we also enjoyed!

I love the rare occasions where I have a sitter during the day so I can have a kid-free meal with @eoj during his work lunch break. I get to savor my whole meal without rushing and don't have to chase @suitcasebaby all over the restaurant!
So one day he asked his very pregnant wife what she wants for lunch (we have a temporary agreement that I always get to decide what we will be eating!). I said "I want noodles!"
The nearest noodles place to his work that we remembered is a place we tried 2 years ago. I guess it did not make an impact back then because if it did, we probably would have gone back. But we decided to give the place, called Wuanood, another shot.
Wuanood is a small restaurant in Mahatun Plaza, right under the Phloen Chit BTS. We like to call the place Sexy Cow Noodles, well because....Wuanood picked a very sexy and very provocative cow to be the mascot!

The place is small so its best to get there before people from the surrounding offices comes for lunch. Just like much of Bangkok, if you get there at noon, you might have trouble finding a place to sit.

There's @eoj holding the very sexy cow Wuanood menu. Even a Hooters menu has got nothing on this cow, that's for sure!

One of our Thai friends recommended what to order. We trust her well in terms of what food to pick. She recommended the Dry Pork Noodle in Creamy Tom Yum Soup. The restaurant will also ask you what kind of noodle would you like to have in the bowl. Depends on your preference but she said get the egg noddle, so we did not even consider any other kind of noodles. I also got extra crackling pork because, well, I'm a Filipina and I love my pork. ;)

Thai condiments are available to flavor your meal because sometimes Thai food needs to be a bit more spicy or salty or sweet.

A very refreshing fresh guava juice that went perfectly with my noodles.

@eoj's order came and he had a rice bowl with tasty beef that had some crackling pork on top. It was good, but let's just say not as good as what I got. It's always good to try a couple of different dishes, but next time we will know what to order - TWO bowls of yummy Tom Yum noodles.
Speaking of those noodles, let's take a look at my dry Tom Yum noodle bowl, shall we? At first glance it doesn't look that appetizing but...wait for it...wait for it...

It has some deep fried wantons, a boiled egg, fish balls and pork with scallions on top. Give it a mix and you'll find buried underneath is...

...noodles bathed in tom yum sauce goodness! Ok, writing this right now makes me want to eat. Now wondering if they have a 24 hour food service? I'll check. Nope they don't! :(
Back to the noodles. Having this bowl is like having flavors explode in your mouth that you can't even tell what the flavor is. The mixture of sweet, sour, spicy, salty along with the different textures in your mouth is just mind blowing. The noodles will set you back 130 Thai Baht, or about $4 USD.
We love our rediscovery so much that we've been doing a noodle pilgrimage once a week to Wuanood since then. They only take cash here for small orders no credit card under a certain amount of Baht. Beware - when you pay to the counter, the sexy cow will try to lure you into trying ice cream too! We did not yield to the temptation because the ice cream right next door is much more delicious. But that's another story. Maybe I'll tell you about that ice cream on my next post. In the meantime, I cracked up with the names that they gave to their ice cream. Here, take a look:
