A Surprise Visit
as per the norm for my parents. Maybe it's just because I don't like answering my phone. Either way, they dropped in yesterday to shoot the shit. My dad says, "oh hey, got this thing for ya". And he hands me this little tiny pouch. Inside, was that folded up Honduran paper bill. He knows I collect currency in all shapes and forms, so was being thoughtful. Gotta love him.
I'm no forex expert or anything, so have no idea how much it's even worth. It's more of a Pokemon thing for me. 'Gotta catch 'em all! But one thing I find odd about this piece of paper, and perhaps unique, is the dating on it. On the top right corner (of what I feel is the front) it says the 14th of December, 2000. Every other paper fiat I've seen only has the year. I thought it was interesting.

As the war on cash continues across the globe, paper currencies will become more scarce. I would love to see some of yours! I live in the states, so anyone that drops a photo of a foreign (to me) paper bill in the comments below, will earn themselves an SBI share. It's actual paper too Kitty. No plastic strands or hybrid materials. It's been used a lot and quite soft to the touch. I put it up with a few others to pass on to the kiddos some day :)

Yes, it must be a Latin American thing. I don't think the full-date on there had ever really "registered" with my brain in the past... so thanks for pointing that out! LOL!

Well, I just find it distracting. Only reason I have a phone is so I can connect to the steem chain in a mobile fashion bwahahahahaa!

He gave me a silver cert for christmas last year! Used to have a few when I was little but someone took 'em :( Not sure if I have any star notes, but know I have several 2$ bills :)

I collect foreign currency as well, both paper and coins. Obviously I have a lot more coins.
I actually carry a few foreign coins and bills in my wallet, as sort of a good luck token, in hopes that we'll travel more.
I'll update with some photos later today.
Probably the most interesting paper currency I have is a set of pre-WWII Deutsch mark bills from Germany. They are gorgeous, with their Old German calligraphy, and in very good condition.
I framed them shortly before I closed my art and framing business, matted on both sides, so you can see both sides of the bills. I'm not certain where they are at the moment, as they are in a box.

I've been collecting coins and currencies since I was a little kid, so I'm guessing that most aren't worth a whole lot, but I do have quite a few nations represented.
