I had been flirting with the idea of creating something with resin. The problem is, I do not have time to learn how to do that. Unfortunately, resin pursued me! I was looking through kiddie toys yesterday and I stumbled over this.
I bought it! It was on sale. I went home and started making these:
I started by choosing my "glitter."
No. They do not come with the kit I bought. I had them lying around in my craft box for awhile now. Its one of those- who knows if I need it some day items?
Its really hard to choose the "filler" but eventually, I had these two.
Choose the mold and fill it with resin:
Put in your "filler."
Add some more resin
Then cure with magic torch aka UV light. Unfortunately I was not able to take a picture of me doing that. But,here it is after I got it out of the mold. I have to cure it a bit more because the "nose" was not that done yet.
The finished product:
And, I even made a heart for my next attempt. Same procedure- different mold.
My final thoughts on it is this: its fun making these. I really had fun and, it was really easy. Its just a pity that I am only learning how to make them now that I am older.....The only downside is that, there is this weird smell while it was curing so I do absolutely do not recommend using this in a closed room.....
Expect polymer clay crafts with resin components folks!
Very interesting stuff. I can't wait to see what you'll be doing with it.
And yeah, open a window or something while you're heating that. That smell can't be good... 🤔
Me too Trin! Its just that I did not expect that. its a KIDDIE product for goodness sake. if I bought it from a hardware or a legit craft store/section, then yeah. In the end, I am just concerned with all the kids and their parents who might not be aware of this.
