King Solomon in his Book of Proverbs left a wise thought to reflect on the importance of the spiritual gift of fear of God: "When the LORD takes pleasure in anyone's way, he causes their enemies to make peace with them" Proverbs 16:7.
The fear of God is in the Bible the beginning of man's spiritual life, the fear of God is the good soil on which all other values are planted, faith, love, hope; and by this gift men please God. And the proverb teaches that with those who please God, the creator makes even his enemies make peace with him, peace is a blessing of the blessed life concludes the proverb; and an example of this was the story of Joseph in the Book of Genesis.
As a child, Joseph, the favorite son of Jacob, received dreams with a divine meaning, and for this motive, his brothers were very envious of him. The Bible relates that Joseph fell into a trap set by his brothers and was sold into slavery in Egypt, while his father Jacob was told that Joseph had died. Through the twists and turns of life, Joseph, due to his ability to divine dreams, was received at the pharaoh's court and appointed vizier. The Bible tells that a famine broke out in Egypt and Canaan, where Joseph's family was. And Joseph's brothers had to go to Egypt to buy grain, because Joseph as vizier had made provisions. Joseph was able to forgive his brothers when they arrived in Egypt, and the story ends by teaching that God in his infinite and eternal providence reconciled Joseph with all the brothers.
As in the story of Joseph (Genesis 37-47), all those who please God receive his protection, and the Lord as a shield, makes no one want to get into trouble with a person blessed by providence, this is the spiritual meaning of the wise saying. Pleasing God and living wisely is the most important and excellent thing a man can do, that is why the Book of Proverbs with these reflections invites men to this life.
