What has value in a crisis?

What type of investment held well in this crisis? What about next time some crisis appears on the horizon?

Here are some purely personal observations:

  • An investment in health is crucial. In times of crisis medical help and medicine can become unavailable. Even if no medical attention is needed, one may still have to adapt to different conditions of nutrition, sleep and exercise. Better built a body than can withstand some adaptation.

  • Mindset. Realizing that in life change is unavoidable will be helpful. Stuff will always happen. Any sort of mental (or physical) addiction can became a horrible hindrance even in a mild crisis.

  • Skills. Those can never be taken away from you (well, with the exception of going senile in old age..) and will serve you and others around you well. Skills are in your head (and often hands) and take no space and can always have them with you.

  • Social capital. Friends and acquaintances. Fake politeness goes away quite fast in a time of crisis. In such situation one sees who is actual friendly.

  • Crypto. Stablecoinsare an option, or btc/eth if you think you can sense which way the wind is blowing and make some profit. Don't except high liquidity or ease of access in a time of crisis though. Cash is still king in such situations.

  • Books. What are you going to do if the internet is down?

  • Cash. As mentioned, good to have.

  • Vpn. More and more news agencies and sites are behind geo-lock. Vpn easily solves that.

Lots of other things could be added to that list obviously. These are just bits that came to mind.

What was the name of that card you purchased that converts crypto to fiat and you can pay with it anywhere?

The monolith card converts ethereum and a bunch of eth tokens to fiat.
