RE: Lines of the same

in #thoughts7 years ago

OK, maybe I'm a little strange. I do like to think about shows I watch. I'm pretty fussy about what I watch however, and it follows the same lines as to what I choose to read: and that is stuff that makes me think, ask questions, consider possibilities.

The most recent thing that has gotten my creative juices flowing is Westworld. I've got tons of notes I've made, inspired to write articles, essays, posts.... but there is so damn much in that show that can be turned into some wonderful ideas and discussions about so many topics ....

Part of the lack of thinking as you refer to it is due to the fast pace of modern world. I've noticed myself get sucked into that 'hustle vortex' (as I call it). I got so sucked into it, I needed to withdraw for six months. I realise now it was something like Information Overload (i.e. burn-out). When I was burned-out, I couldn't think. I couldn't read. I couldn't write. Because my creativity requires collateral energy, and that energy was just not there. So needed to recover.

I noticed this in the clients I used to see. Burn-out. No spare energy to consider what changes to make in their lives, let alone how to make those changes. Is it any wonder?

Hence, the "Slow Life". It provides space for thinking, for creativity, for considering and contemplating, for making appropriate and congruent choices.

Thanks for creating the space for me to consider these things.....

I agree but, anything can inspire thought. Most people sit, consume and say, 'that's nice' and move onto the next episode.

No worries. This is essentially what I try to do with my blog, create space for people to consider things they may not have made the space for otherwise. Hopefully it helps at times. :)
