Once upon a time there was a family that had moved to a town called Vegelandia. He had two children named Antonio and María, Antonio was twelve years old and María was ten years old. As they passed through the street of the town, they noticed five stores, one was for clothes, one for shoes and the rest of fruits and vegetables.
When they got home, Antonio and Maria ran up to their room and on the desk they noticed an unusual letter, the envelope was red and the paper material was unknown to them. The letter read:
Dear gentleman, I am pleased to tell you that if you are reading this letter you should immediately leave this property, unfortunately it is cursed and if you decide to stay you will suffer the consequences!
The children did not react with fear, they thought it was a joke and decided to go exploring, because behind the house there was a grove, and in the distance they saw a stream. They decided to go take a look. When they arrived they saw an orchard of watermelons and carrots, and a sign that read:
"Whoever enters here will be cursed forever."
The children thought it was a practical joke and went inside. When I set foot on the orchard, a storm broke out, and the children decided to take refuge in a barn on the other side. When the rain ended, the children saw that a simple carrot moved slowly, terrified they ran to their parents but when they told them what happened and read the letter to them, they said that it was all an absurd joke from another child, not to be afraid.
The next day there was a knock on the door: tac tac tac. Antonio ran to open it, no one was there, just a basket with a letter, a carrot and a watermelon. The letter read:
Intruders should not have entered my garden, now a curse will fall on you!
The parents then asked their children to take them to the place where they had seen the carrot move. They left the carrot and watermelon in their place along with a note, in which they apologized for what had happened and promised they would never return to the garden.
At night they knocked on the door again: tac, tac, tac. And again there was no one, just a watermelon, a carrot and another letter that said:
They despised my gift and they think they were so easy to get rid of being cursed!
They took the basket and locked doors and windows. They put a fire in the fireplace; parents and children went to bed. At midnight, Antonio couldn't sleep because of how terrified he was. He heard footsteps on the stairs, he leaned out the door and saw the silhouette of a carrot, with red eyes and a knife in his hands.
Then Antonio rubbed his eyes and when he opened them there was nothing. He woke up Maria and they went to his parents to tell them what he had seen.
The next day, at midnight, the neighbors only heard screams coming from that house.
