Ohhhhhh----soooo many treasures!
It's amazing what one can find sorting through
a garage full of donations!
The only problem is, not knowing what things are,
how to use them, or if they are even valuable enough to keep.

So, Tool Nerd community, please help me identify this...

This is a light-weight tool--about as heavy as the pen.

And it has no movable parts.

It has a grippy-type textured surface on the handle.

If you recognize this,
please tell me:
1. what it is--please be specific--I don't know about these things!
2. what it's intended to be used for
3. if it still looks useable for its original purpose
4. alternative ideas on how to use it.

I appreciate your input in helping me identify and put to use these treasures.
Check out my past posts and see if you have ideas about these items too.
WTF Is This? #1 We still don't know what this is! Can you help?
WTF Is This? #2 I believe we have a consensus on this one! See what it is!
WTF Is This? #3 Likely a car part - transmission or drive shaft?
WTF Is This? #4 Nobody seems to have any idea what this is!
WTF Is This? #5 Lots of ideas on this one--a pulley, drill bit, craft rolling pin, torque limiter...
WTF Is This? #6 It's been suggested a roller for a sliding door, an adjustable bearing--perhaps for a chain drive...

Here is the textured side!

I was going to guess some sort of hammer until I saw the open end. I'm at a loss.
I'm sure it makes sense for something, but I don't have a real clue either. Thanks for giving your two cents worth @ericvancewalton.
Yeah I was thinking maybe a leather working hammer.. until the open end pic
That would have been a good guess. I suppose it could still be used for leather working -- the open end hammered on the leather would make a square! I isn't as durable and heavy as the other leather working tools I have used. Of course it could be used for pottery, but pretty sure that isn't the original intent.
Thanks for the comment and giving me some input.
