Finally I hiked the mountain top I've been looking at for 4 years!

in #trailtuesday6 years ago (edited)

This is the first picture I took of this peak, the pyramid shaped Pavione in Trentino, Italy.
From the first sight, this was my favorite peak, I found it's perfect pyramid shape so mystic and magic.

A little less than a year later, we moved into a house in Italy with the permanent view of this peak:

Me and little Willow on our balcony the first day in the new house

And how many pictures i have taken of this amazing view those 1½ year we lived there! (We don't live there anymore since we rented out the house and moved into our campervan 2 years ago)

And I could keep on going!
So many times, when the sun had gone behind the mountains (especially in winter where we just had 10 minutes of sun reaching the house a day!), I would look at that mountain top from my window and dream myself away to those last rays of sun!
But did I ever climb it? Not until two days ago! But then I finally did it!

Roberto showing the way

We went by car to Vederna, a beautiful mountain valley at the altitude of about 1,300 mt. From there we just had about 1000 mt to climb to reach the top.
As I didn't do very much of "mountain climbing" (if you can call it that) or let alone trekking in my life, this was sufficient for me ;D
I come from a country (Denmark) where we the highest point is 170 mt above sea level and the closest thing to a mountain is a hill called "Himmelbjerget" translated "The Sky Mountain", which is 147 mt high...! And no I haven't even climbed that one XD

DSCF0551.JPG

That being said, I do quite a lot of hiking and love to be in forest and mountains. So I was quite excited to finally hit that mountain!

On the way up we had stunning views of the Dolomites, just on the other side of the valley.

DSCF0552.JPG

DSCF0558.JPG
me, looking down at the starting point

The first part went through pine forest, the next some grassy hills, with a few trees and flowers - most of them already went into seeds though, it being late in the year.

DSCF0560.JPG

Then the last long bit was more grassy hills. Up, up!

DSCF0562.JPG

DSCF0564.JPG

DSCF0565.JPG

Then we reached the pass. Just another 50 minutes..

DSCF0567.JPG

Up this..!

DSCF0569.JPG

Almost at the first top..

DSCF0570.JPG

We made it, and luckily, from the first top to the next was just this sweet piece that seemed like a stroll ;D

DSCF0572.JPG

This part was the best to walk, almost straight and there was this incredible warm humid wind coming up from one side! I had always imagined it would be kind of cold and dry, but instead it was warm and humid! And apart from this warm wind, there was no strong winds at all, almost completely calm!

DSCF0573.JPG

At the top of the world..

DSCF0583.JPG
Monte Pavione, 2335 m and me.. ;P

DSCF0586.JPG

DSCF0584.JPG

It's always strange to be on top of a place you've looked at for so long. I was a bit surprised of how much grass there was..! And then at the amount of people (not so visible on the pictures but there were quite a few other trekkers up there). I had always imagined this completely desolate mountaintop, far away, seen from my window..!
Instead, there is probably almost always a few people who climbs it everyday, just can't see them from down there ;D

DSCF0588.JPG
"Our" village - Imér

It is said that on a clear day you can see all the way to Venice from here, but we had clouds in that direction!

DSCF0593.JPG

And back down again..!

DSCF0595.JPG

Met this guy on the way..!

DSCF0596.JPG

And then where we started at the "malga" where a family that takes care of the cows live for the summer together with the animals. This is a beautiful experience too, we did something similar last year, though at a place with a restaurant too. Will write a post about that too one day :)

That was it for now, thank you for stopping by!!

Wow. The best photo out of everything here is that one of the Dolomites. Just wow. Looks amazing.

Next is the cloudy mountain on top of the rainbow pic. And then that one above the purple(?) flowers. And lastly that one under the sitting Roberto in the foreground.

If you're going to make prints those are my top picks. They all look great on my phone screen. 😁 Post processing is really helpful to make photos look fantastic.

Am not a mountain person, am more of an ocean lover but those views are amazing.

Thank you, and thanks for being so specific with the photos!! :D Wonderful! thanks! <3 <3

Absolutely STUNNING! Congratulazioni!
Truly amazing place, you very well captured the magic of it.

grazie mille ;D

First, I must say congratulations @frejafri. You finally made it. The photos taken by you? It is amazing, the view was stunning. I love the photo with little willow:) When reading your article, it more like i am virtually hiking with you. From the view of the photo, I do believe you need to build your stamina before the hike? I am afraid of heights. So hike a mountain really not in my dictionary. Thank you for your lovely article, now i can enjoy the scenery as you do.

Thank you! yes all photos taken by me, a part from the ones with me in, which roberto took :)
Haha, I didn't really do anything to build my stamina before, which also made it take me 2 hours instead of the normal 1½ for other people XD

Two hours is not bad but it worth it by looking at the scenery :)

Wow, wow, wow! The photos are amazing! You make me want to climb, and I'm not even a hiker. Wonderful!

I have resteemed this post.

thank you! :D

It’s so beautiful out there!! I love the view in your home too!! And also congratulations you made it!!! All photos were beautiful!! You are beautiful!! That place is like paradise!!! ❤️❤️❤️

Thank you :D

Thanks for those stunning views! I don't like to hike but when I know I get rewards like this in front in my camera during the hike Than for sure I love to hike 😍

And my question is answered by this post, yes your still in the south of Europe. 😉

Yes, I just came back to this part of Italy 2 weeks ago :)
Thank you!
Haha, yes the pictures are a good reward, but the real view even better ;D

Real views are usually better indeed, but photography is the fun part I like and helps to secure the precious memories better.

That loos like an amazing hike, and the view are just stunning! I am not much of a hiker myself, but maybe one day I will motivate myself to do it.

Me neither, but it's wonderful to get out there once in a while, though I did think I was never gonna reach in on the way up!!

What an accomplishment. It seemed like it was going to be very desolate from your view. It would be hard to get it off your mind when you see it each day. I love the view of your village down below. Now you can see it in both ways. Big congrats to you :)

yes exactly! :) Thank you

You really had a great view while you lived there. And the pics are so beautiful.
When we attain the things we admire from afar, the joy becomes even more. You definitely had an amazing time. Thank you for sharing:)

Wow, that it was a great adventure, that I really loved, especially to see the photos, very beautiful all of them.

You can see that the weather was quite cold but even so, seeing you with those clothes surprised me a lot. What a great adventure, I hope I can go sometime! Hugs to here to the top of the world!

it was actually not that cold - and the climb definitely gave some heat, but even so, the sun was super hot too :)
Thank you

It looks like a great trek up through the mountains. The views are stunning and you get a great perspective of the hills from your photos.

The main thing must be the sense of accomplishment from taking on a task that you have been thinking about for so long and getting it done. I like having goals to work towards so every time that i get one done it leaves a nice feeling. So nicely done.

So true, now i just have to make a new goal ;D But there are loads of other mountaintops here to pick from, in case ;)
Thank you for the support! <3

Next stop, everest. Have to go bigger now that you have finished this one.

Cool! It takes amazing shots!

Hello ho this photos on the top of the world looks so amazing!!!what a stunning view it must have been such a special moment. But the snake on the way...lol im not a big fan of this guys:)

Wow, mama I love your posts, they are always filled with beautiful photos! You have an eye in catching the breath of the scenery!

Thank you! I do love taking photos! <3

howdy from Texas frejafri! what an exciting climb, you must be in tremendous physical condition to go all the way up there! Was it harder to breath at the top of the mountain? I was very surprised to see all the grass up there.
Well that was a great accomplishment, do you have other climbs or trips that you will put on your posts?

thank you! Haha, not that great condition, I was pretty tired afterwards ;D I'm not always doing that much of trekking, but once in a while I'll post some more, sure, there is always amazing views from this part of the world, and gonna stay here at least a month or so, so we will go on some more adventures! :D
Then at some point I'm gonna write about our experience from last summer living 3 months right in the mountains!

howdy there frejafri! oh my...you lived in the mountains for three months?? wow, that is going to make some wonderful posts! thank you so much!

howdy back frejafri! wow, that is so amazing with that stunning scenery it almost doesn't look real! that's fantastic, thanks for sending the link!

It must have felt really amazing living in a house surrounded by such scenic and fascinating views, I wouldn't have wanted to leave that place.... Its just so beautiful..

The views from the top of the mountain looks breathtaking as well. It took you a while to get on that hike but you did at last and it turned out to be a fun and exciting one! I am actually surprised it took you that long to get on that fun adventure, I would have hiked that a long time ago (lol).

Did you freak out when you saw the snake? I am assuming you didn't because well, you even took a photo of it... Your photos are beautiful, it captured the beautiful views of the place...

Thank you! Yes it did take a long time, but I kind of had my excuses ;D First time I got here I was pregnant, and NOT up for a hike XD Then I got a baby.. and pretty much the same story, didnt want to be away from him, and we did do some hikes with him on the back but since my partner was working in another part of the mountains, we decided to go hiking there with him instead of setting off alone with my baby!
I really wanted to do it last summer, but again my partner was working, and then we never got around to it after he finished! So not until this year!
Haha, no, I really like snakes actually, find them super fascinating! Have to remind myself that they are dangerous to not go nearer XD

Yeah, you had reasons, valid reasons. Finally, you got to go on that hike! How is your baby now? she must be all grown up by now (maybe not so "grown up". lol.)

I find them quite fascinating too, how they move their body and all. Interesting creatures! Its sad that they are dangerous...

it's a he (the baby, not the snake, or the snake I couldn't tell ;D) and he's quite grown now yes, almost 4 :D

DSCF9865.JPG

I wonder why I guessed the baby to be a she, lol. He looks so cute, he must be a fun loving guy!!....

Very well done! Congratulations that you finally made it to the summit! Oh yes, that is worth reaching because of the magnificent view from the top. And how cool is that when you look down to a sea of clouds when you are not on a plane. It sounds very refreshing and relaxing.

How long in total did it take you to reach the top from your starting point?

thank you! It took us about two hours (normal time is 1½ hour, apparently, but I'm not that fast XD) Then we spend almost an hour on the top, just enjoying the view and eating the food we brought!

Yes, I can imagine it will be very cool to have picnic on top. If I were you, I may even have stayed longer for as long as the weather is favorable. :)

I suppose the descend was faster? Or did you take it more leisurely in going down?

the descend was definitely faster, but hard on the knees..! Yes my dream was kind of to watch the sunset up there, since that was what I admired from the house, but descending in the dark wouldn't be too good an idea! Maybe spending the night there, but it probably gets freezing at night, and I don't think pitching a tent is legal - though no one would probably notice! Maybe that will be the next goal! Then we could watch the sunrise too!

An overnight camping! Yes, that sounds so interesting. I wonder why putting up a tent will be illegal. Isn't that a common hiking destination that the local authoritirs may already know and allow camping?

How about safety at night? Won't there be any wild animals out there to be scared of?

It's not allowed to camp in the wild in Italy, just at assigned spots, unfortunately.. but I don't think anyone would make a fuss about it :P wolves and bears occasionally roam these parts, but haven't been seen for a while as far as I know..! But better check first if they are around!

For as long as there are no nearby private properties then I guess you are correct, no one will fuss about it. But yes, you better check those wild animals first. Better be safe than sorry. :)

This is a very nice experience, really. Although all the photos are very beautiful, my favourites are the ones your child accompanies you in. It's beautiful, it transmits many things, it's love... I love to find this kind of post around here, fill the soul, it's like breathing...

Thank you! Those are very kind words, very appreciated <3

WOW THESE PHOTOGRAPHS LEAVE ME SINAL
I fell in love with those landscapes .. I am a lover of nature and that place is magical, love each of your photos, thank you very much for sharing them with us !! Greeting @frejafri

Thank you! :D <3

Beautiful pictures and beautiful mountains :)

Wow, truly amazing pictures! Some lovely colors there - bright blues and greens!! Stunning! Thanks for sharing. That looks like a truly majestic location.

Wow!! What an amazing place to explore!!
You took some really gorgeous photos! Good job! ♥

wow well done on getting to the top, that looked like a great hike up, I think my legs would be feeling some of those walks. But the views are out of this world, so beautiful, thanks so much for sharing that with us all xx

Breathtaking. I think it was the 11th image where you view the house from far away while on high ground that made me awe. The place is so expansive and the hiking story just lures my feet to walk on the mountains once more. I live in the city and views like these come as rare treasured moments. What I wouldn't give to travel on those kinds of terrain and maybe do some camping in between.

yes i know, it can be hard to get out of the city and breath the fresh mountain air! I didn't get out much when I lived in Copenhagen either, and there were no mountains anywhere close!
I hope you get the chance though!

Awww... little willow is so cute! Thank you so much @frejafri for sharing your hike with us. And your new house has got an amazing view! It must be really cooling there? Your photos are really stunning. One might ask, how blue can the sky be? Your shots of the sky is so blue!!! Beautiful! Climbing a mountain is not an easy task. How is the oxygen level up there? My highest hike was about 4,000 meters and halfway up, it was hard to breathe and I had altitude sickness on the way down, which was cured by drinking coke! :D

we don't live there anymore, we are just visiting roberto's parents who live here, while we just have our camper now :)
and yes the sky gets incredibly blue here, I guess the altitude helps - plus the clean air!
I also was at about 4000 meters in Nepal and felt the altitude sickness! this one was not so bad though - probably because this top is only 2334 meters, it doesn't mess with us as much :)

Ah that's nice. Blue skies, clean air, no altitude sickness :D. Altitude sickness kinda mess up the brain, doesn't it.
Oo.. I just saw your most recent post. Baby Willow is a big boy already :) I hope things are looking better for you guys now. Take care there @frejafri. I love your dressing style :)

Congratiulations for finally making it to the top! The photo's are beautiful, and I really can imagine that you had to do this.
