La série de photos qui suit a été faite lors d'une visite de la villa Kérylos à Beaulieu sur mer. Cette villa est une curiosité typique de la Côte d'azur. C'est une région où à la fin du 19ème siècle et au début du vingtième de nombreuses villas de luxe ont été construites avec une diversité créatrice exceptionnelle.
La villa Kérylos était la propriété de Théodore Reinach né d'une famille de banquiers Allemands et est doté de capacités intellectuelles remarquables. Il sera archéologue, mathématicien, musicologue, numismate, historien et juriste.
Expert de la Grèce ancienne il fera construire cette maison par l'architecte Emmanuel Pontremoli. Elle est une synthèse de l'esprit Grec antique et des moyens techniques les plus avancés du début du vingtième siècle.
Il est à noter qu'il s'agit d'une oeuvre globale qui comprend l'ensemble de la construction mais aussi tout le mobilier (meubles, vaisselle, tissus , luminaires, décor).

Yes it's really a place to see. Interesting and original.
A interesting mix of style elements. The architecture and the ceiling remind me of the Scottish Arts and Crafts Movement (also the chandelier), interior walls greco-roman with a touch of oriental influences, the inner courtyard typical Mediterranean. Some wall paintings appear as if in a museum in Pompeii perhaps. The mosaic of the chicken seems familiar, as if I had seen it before (byzantine style).
