Travellin' Da U.P., Eh! Episode 4, Lake Superior Waves

in #travel3 years ago

Hello, Hivers!

I'm back with another episode of Travellin' Da U.P., Eh!

In this episode, we took a ride to Presque Isle Park in Marquette, MI to watch and video the waves coming off Lake Superior on a very windy day in the fall a couple of years ago.

Marquette, MI is on the south shore of Lake Superior, and Presque Isle park is surrounded by the lake on 3 sides. When the wind blows in from the north or northwest, the waves can get pretty impressive. We took the trip up to Marquette because the heavy wind forecast was calling for 3 to 5 foot waves, and we wanted to see them rolling in and onto the rocky shore of Presque Isle. The waves weren't quite as wild as they could have been, but they were still easily 2 to 3 foot waves with a few larger ones. At the beginning of the video, in the background, there's an ore boat being loaded with taconite pellets from the local iron mine.

This video is about 8 minutes long, and there's a lot of wind noise, but the waves are pretty good.

Thanks for stopping by to check out my video, eh!
