I have been working on getting my little minivan up to the challenge of "hitting the road" Went through and was looking at what I needed to do to the "Silver Bullet", yes that is what she is named, to get started on my journey.
I did all the preliminaries to this and went to the parts store. She needed front and back brakes, so I got the brake pads and shoes. I got new rotors and drums. I even got new wheel cylinders and calipers so it would be good for a while.
I did some looking into why she was leaking power steering fluid and found that the rack and pinion had a seal leaking on one side, hoping it was just a hose but no luck there, so I also got a new rack and pinion. I thought it would be good to go from there. I knew it would need a wheel alignment after replacing the rack and pinion but it was no problem there. I even got some new shocks for the back as I knew those were going to be needed also.
I had planned on pulling the seats out and making a bed in the back and setting up some other things for living in it so I could be as comfortable as possible for a while. I was going to start here and put back money and hopefully more up to something bigger and better. As you have to start somewhere, right?
I had a friend that was a mechanic come over to help me as I did not have all the tools needed and he did. So we started tearing down the front end to put on the brakes and the rack and pinion. We looked at things more closely at this time and found out that it would need much more than I thought. I needed control arms, ball joints, tie rod ends. That was just the wheel alignment right. Yeah, it also needed struts and a few other things too. In the end, it was about $2000.00 or so I would have to put into the Windstar to just get on the road.
I only had half of that and I do not think that it was worth putting that much into a Ford Windstar. I still needed some money to make the inside of the minivan my home for a while. I found another vehicle online and went to look at it and was thinking about it but it will be Monday or Tuesday before I can do anything there because I have to wait for the money from the returned parts to go back in the bank, as they would only return it to the card.
If it is not one thing it is another! The struggle continues and sooner or later I will figure it all out and it will happen. Just trying to be patient for the time being. I am moving forward, it might be slow but it is forward to something else. There might be a bigger and better vehicle out there for me somewhere!
Thanks for reading my posts and I hope everyone has a wonderful day/night, whatever it is in your neck of the woods.

I am jealous man. I want to get van or something and just go travel the country and make posts about my travels. That would be so much fun. Good luck with it all. Can't wait to see where you go and the stories you tell.
Yeah, It took a lot of work to get to this point. Talking to the wife and getting those things worked out. I thought that would be the hard part, I guess I was wrong. I will get there and it is going to be some awesome posts from many places. Going to be promoting Hive and doing some things in that field also. Working with things to do that also, like maybe some meetups, working to bring some YouTubers to 3speak and in turn Hive.
Hope you find the right van.
Thanks! I am working on it!
