Dear Friends after a long time break,
I back to my steemit world with a new experience, beautiful photography and an exciting travel story. Actually the story begins from “My Second Steemit Travel... to explore some unexplored world....” It’s time to pack your bags and head to ARAKU…The Valley of Serene Beauty.

Araku is a Hill station some 120km away from Vishakhapatnam in the state of Andhrapradesh. It is a valley in the Eastern Ghats inhabited by different tribes. After a spell of rains, the valley is a verdant green. The pleasing weather, enchanting grass lands and on misty mornings you can seen the beautiful landscape with floating clouds across the sky are the main attractions of this beautiful hill landscape. Here some snaps.....

I personally suggest the journey to Araku Valley is most enjoyable when you travel by rail. It’s takes you through 58 tunnels and over 84 bridges. You have awestruck experience through the engineering marvel of the Kottavalasa-Kirandul line on the Waltair division of the East coast railway.

After Beautiful road journey with amazing view, finally we arrived most awaiting destination i.e Million years old Borra Caves. Before I sharing snaps i wanna tell a story about this place....

The Caves are located about 90kms North of Vishakhapatnam, in the Ananthagiri Hill ranges of Eastern Ghats, which range between 800 to 1300 mts M.S.L in Andhra Pradesh.William King the British Geologists discovered the cave in 1807. Borra (means Hole) caves are naturally formed and believed to be 150 million year old. The humic acid in the water reacts with the calcium carbonate in the limestone and dissolves the minerals breaking the rock gradually. The perennial water flow over a period of time results in the formation of caves. Small streams from hillocks going towards Gosthani River(Gov-Cow,Sthani-Under) carved out the caves. The water percolating from the roof containing calcium bi carbonate and other minerals from mounds on the ground called “Stalagmites” and spear like structure hanging from the roof called “Stalactites”. The Stalactites and Stalagmites acquire different shapes inspiring the imagination of the tourists and locals and earing in eresting names and characters like Shiv Parvathi. Mother-child, Rushis Beared, Human brain, Crocodile etc. The formation of brain-shaped stalagmite at the central part of Borra Caves can be said as the gift of nature. The main entrance of Borra Caves is at an altitude of 705 meter MSL while the interior goes down to 625 meters MSL. The total length of Borra Caves is about 200 meter, but the distance you trek in the caves is about 350 meters. Breath taking hilly terrain, beautiful landscape, Semi evergreen moist deciduous forests, and wild fauna of the area are a visual feast. The Hill tracks are inhabited by the Tribals, Jatapu, Porja, Kondadora, Nookadora, Valmiki etc.
