Sleeping in a Fishermans hut called "Rorbu"

in #travel7 years ago (edited)

These old fishermans huts used to be inhabited by fishermen as they worked on the sea for many weeks at a time during fishing season. These huts are built half on land and half on pillars in the water. These days the "rorbu" is a popular housing option for tourists. The most of these huts are located in the fishing villages of Lofoten but can also be found by the coast all the way up to Finnmark where fishing used to be big bussines. There are still professional fishers here but they rarely use the rorbu anymore.
