My first trip to Thailand

in #travel7 years ago

I joined Steemit today and a travel story was the first post I saw. I explored the travel tag and came across some really interesting experiences shared in the community so I thought of sharing mine. Pardon me for any mistakes since I am not 100% aware of the community rules yet.

I travelled to Thailand for my honeymoon in March this year for 2 weeks. It was a wonderful journey starting from Bangkok -> Phuket -> Krabi. Here is a glimpse of our exciting journey.

Bangkok:

  • We stayed in Bangkok for 3 days. I wanted to watch the Bangkok skyline sipping cold beer from inside a rooftop pool so we decided to stay at Mode Sathorn Hotel in Bangkok. The pool was amazing and so was the view.

  • In these 3 days, we visited numerous popular spots in Bangkok namely Sea Life, Madam Tussads, Siam Park City waterpark, Asiatique The Riverfront and Chatuchak weekend market. Although we did Chatuchak in a bit of a hurry but overall it was a great shopping experience. We bought some really cheap hats and sunglasses for fun and ate a lot of stuff. IMG_2146.JPG

Phuket

  • We landed in Phuket on our 4th day early morning and took a minivan ride to our resort in Kata beach area named Chanalai Flora. We decided to stay near Kata beach instead of the popular Patong area since we wanted to stay away from crowd and rush and sought a quite decent place. Kata turned out to be perfect from us. It was just a 2 min walk from our resort.

  • We spent our time in Phuket by doing a lot of tours to nearby islands some of them being Coral Islands, Racha Island, etc. Racha island was unlike any other island that we saw on our entire trip till now. It was very pristine and had perfect mix of white sands & turquoise waters. We spent 2-3 hours here and then went to try Snorkeling.IMG_2428.JPG

  • The snorkeling part was a disaster since both of us were non swimmers and we kept clinging to the boat since both of us were afraid of wandering alone in the waters. The tour guides were somewhat helpful but there were a lot of people on the trip and we didn't want to risk going missing and no one giving a damn :P
  • In our last 2 days in Phuket, we travelled nearby to Patong and other areas and explored around. We also tried our hands on surfing near Kata beach in the Surf house. It was an awesome experience and we enjoyed a lot doing it. It was also a bargain since that day was ladies night and my wife got to do it for free :D IMG_2509.JPG

Krabi

  • Finally we were in Krabi and after doing a lot of trips in such less time, we decided to take a rest and spent our first day in Krabi relaxing in our resort. We had chosen Ban Sainai Resort for this and there is nothing that we didn't like about this surreal place. It was a mini forest in itself and it was a lot of fun exploring it. The best part of this resort was the delicious breakfast(hundreds of options) and feeding fishes while having it.

  • Since our first Snorkeling was disappointing, we decided to go for the four islands trip this time with Krabi Sunset Cruises since it was reviewed very well on TripAdvisor and usually had very few people(~20-25) on a single trip. Though it was priced more than the usual tours but it was definitely worth it. The cruise owners Carolyn and Michael were really wonderful and helped us try everything from Snorkeling, Canoeing to Roof jumping. This tour was definitely one of the best parts of our trip. Here is a short video of us Snorkeling

  • We had plans for a 1 day trip to Phi Phi islands but were already exhausted after so much travel so decided to do local tours. For this, we went with Emerald pool and hot springs and spent a day there. The trip was relaxing and overall a day well spent.

  • Finally it was time to bid Goodbye to Krabi and Thailand. We had a half day left and we spent it drinking some smoothies and buying some goodies back for our home. Overall it were a wonderful 15 days that wish going back to. Someday we will travel back to Thailand and hope to come up with better experiences.

PS. This was the first time I have written such a long post and hope it won't disappoint the crowd here. Comments/ Suggestions/Edits are most welcomed. Do comment with your travel experiences if any to Thailand in comments :)

Good article. Good luck here on Steemit. I like the Thai street food and often salivate over it on cooking shows.

Thanks. I too miss the Thai food and the unique flavours that it had especially that tinge of Galangal :)

welcome to steemit, it would be nice to make small #introduceyourself post (:

Thanks :) And surely I will make one intro post soon.
