My entry for Asian Sunday this week isn't a photo designed to win but it's one of my favorite moments I've experienced in traveling. When I visited Israel last year, I had the chance to take a day trip to Petra, Jordan. To do this, I flew domestically from Tel Aviv to Eilat, a resort city in southern Israel right at the border of Jordan. From there, I had to walk across the Israel-Jordan border to meet my Jordanian guide on the other side. It was such an interesting surreal experience to walk through no man's land between the two countries after being stamped out of Israel. Of course, touring Petra was incredible, but this moment was just as memorable to me!
IMG_6794 2.jpg

It would be weird crossing into another country like that under those circumstances. I have wanted to go to Petra since I saw some documentaries on it. I am hoping to see some of your pictures from there soon.

I took this picture in 2009 during a trip to Kyrgyzstan (the former republic of the USSR).

Kyrgyzstan is a mountainous republic. Wherever you are, there are always mountains around you. Even if they are far away, they are perfectly visible. Being in Bishkek you can always see mountains from one side. Because the mountains are 30 km from the city.

This place is located 30 km from the capital of the republic - the city of Bishkek.

Great entry and I think the first image from Kyrgyzstan even submitted in the challenge! Have a great day. Tomas

Thank you very much! 8)
Good day to you too!

Cormorant Fisherman in China

Here is one of my favorite photos from our trip to China last year. I also featured it in my "Faces of China" post.
If you take part in Tomas, aka @czechglobalhosts, contest for a longer period of time, you'll might have seen some photos of the fisherman. After being a fisherman for several decades he now mainly works in the tourist industry as a model. I guess it's kind of a win-win-situation for him and tourists like us. He's wearing his traditional outfit. Once in a lifetime experience!
Have a great week everybody👍🏻

steemit justdentist street 1.jpg

That's a great shot! So did you join a photo tour where they hired a model? Or does he just work in the area during specific times?

Yes, it was a photo tour. You can book the fisherman and his brother I think in the morning or evening for a shoot. Really friendly guy!

This is beautiful. I don't really know what else to say because it is such a captivating photo.

Another one from those series, I love it!

Shot at the desert dunes of Dubai, UAE after safari. Had pretty limited time to catch sunset, but still pretty lucky for such unusual cloud formation to appear at the last moment.
This orange color of UAE sands is pretty amazing and really differs from bright almost white color of Lithuanian dunes

Enjoy it!

This is Yaqing Temple of sichuan province, China. It lies in an isolated valley 4000m above sea level. The monastery is associated with the Nyingma tradition of Tibetan Buddhism . With more than 10,000 Sangha members now, it's the largest concentration of nuns and monks in the world.

Wow so beautiful view @yasirmoharkan nice colorful challenge

Awesome shot! Congrats!

Just beautiful, what else to say!

thank you so much everyone

The infamous temple Surrounded by the ocean when the tide is high, I named Tanah lot temple. Located in Bali, Indonesia, it is a special place as much as it is a holi place.

Location: Bali, Indonesia.

Thank you so much for your entry! Bali is on my list, still:)....

Haha, I went there twice for a month each time and I lived it! It is on my recommendation top list.
If you do go over there, try avoiding Kuta except if you love partying!
Rent a scooter and go around the island, you have to explore it! There is so much things to see it's incredible.

This is my photo of Meridian Gate (Vietnamese: Ngọ Môn), is the main gate to the Imperial City, Huế, located within the citadel of Huế. Meridian Gate (Vietnamese: Ngọ Môn) is the main entrance in the south and the largest one in four main gates of Hue Citadel. This is an architectural work owning the highest value in the architectural ensemble of Nguyen Dynasty still existing today. Architecturally, It was modeled after the Meridian Gate of the Forbidden City in Beijing, China, yet it still clearly reflected the architectural style of Vietnam.

What a wonderful entry! Thank you so much for your submission. Tomas

Thank you. Tomas

It was back in September last year when I woke up early and hike up to Kelimutu Volcano to be witness of one of the best if not the best sunrise in my life. Truly a unique feeling when you are enjoying in different colors, which sun is painting on the sky and for cherry on the top also crater lakes are changing colors.

Nothing beats a Bali Sunset

This was one of our last sunsets on the Island of Bali before we left a few weeks back. I´ve seen many Sunsets from around the world, but the ones on Bali never fail.

Hmmm, that sure is a stunning sunset!

thanks, miss the Bali Sunset. The only better sunsets I´ve seen were in Western Australia.

Yangshuo is a town in Southwest China best known for its Karst mountain landscape. I rent a bike here and cycled along the gorgeous Yulong river and rice paddies. On my way I took this photo on Gongnong Bridge. Bamboo rafting in this picturesque place is also an amazing experience!

We almost rent a bike there too, but it was raining heavily so we didn't! Very nice picture! I have heard that rafting in Yulong river was very commercialised. Did you have a good time there?

Every year, during Chirstmas and New Year, Victoria Harbour in Hong Kong would have a light show every evening, showcasing the beautiful skyline of Hong Kong, along with eye catching laser and light beam dancing in the sky. This picture was taken 10 years ago, during Christmas 2008, a day after our wedding.

Boracay is one of the most beautiful islands in the Philippines:
Located in the center of the Philippine archipelago, northwest of the island of Panay, this tropical paradise has all the necessary assets for a holiday out of the ordinary. This dream island, as we only see in books, is one of the most magical islands on our planet.

Photo was taken in 2017 from the window of my room in The Lind Boracay hotel..

Photo taken on the train from Kurokawa Onsen to Fukuoka. Mt. Aso is located in Japans Kyushu Island, the region is so beautiful and full of sceneries. It was under sunset, the snowy mountain reflects on the lake. I couldn't stop watching such a wonderful postcard view.

This photo I have just took at the sunrise in Old Bagan, Myanmar. There are so many ballons flying over millions of pagodas and temples... How fabulous!

I really love this shot because of the moment of the balloon and the temple head to head!
Let's enjoy my photo~

While touring through Japan, I went to Lake Ashi in hopes of getting some shots of Mount Fuji. It was not to be because of cloud cover but I was able to get this pic of a "pirate boat." It was actually a lake tour boat but I thought it made for a visually pleasing photo. I hope you enjoy.

A hot air balloon silently floats across the barren desert that is Cappadocia, Turkey. One of Turkeys most popular destinations, it is almost impossible to take a bad photo in this region. Taken on a point-and-shoot I luckily took on our quad-bike tour, this image is not actually black-and-white as it first looks to be, but is an effect of pointing the camera directly at the blinding afternoon sun. Nearby, the sound of flame-throwers filling more hot air balloons filled the air as the crowds took to the sky to see the ancient volcanic-scarred hills and valleys.

I took this photo after hiking Annapurna Circuit Trek in Nepal. It was the first day with heavy rain but also it was the place where I decided to start my trip alone as I had flight back soon and couldn't continue trek with my friend.

Hello Tomas. This is my entry for Asian Sunday this week. Last year, I was lucky enough of having the chance to visit the amazing Jaipur, India. We were walking on the road and saw this wonderful castle emerging from the lake. It’s called “Jalmahal” (castle of the lake). I couldn’t help myself from clicking some shots of this architectural beauty residing in the marvelous beauty of nature. I hope you enjoy this

While riding the Samoeng loop nearby Chiang Mai by motorbike, we suddenly saw some kind of gleaming white palace on top of a mountain, which turned out to be a construction site for a temple. We were absolutely by ourselves with deep quietnesss, powerful light and impressive stone scalptures.

This its one of my favorite pictures. I took that pic about 4 years ago at Songkran festival in Thailand. For me its best festival and celebration of new year ever. Mostly its 2 days (somewhere longer) water war witch means clean all bad from your body and soul and go clean and happy to the new year. In this 2 day everybody buy some water gun or something else for trow water..:) Songkran starts at 13. April and end about 15 of April.

Great captures! Thank you very much!

Japanese businessmen enjoying the cherry blossom festival in Tokyo. I was hired to go photograph some engagement pictures there years ago luckily it was right at the height of when all the trees where in bloom with great flowers.

So spring is already here in Nepal. This place can be seen when you are travelling to Mustang from Beni, Mhyagdi District of Nepal,I am confused with the actual name of the exact place right now"phedi" or something. This is fresh white water stream coming melting ice direct from Himalayas.

Israel, the Dead Sea. The sea is very, well, very salty. So much salt - that the whole beach in the pressed salt is covered. The water is so salty that it throws it out of the water. I heard about this miracle - but until I tried it myself - I did not believe much. Really like that - you lie on the couch and do not drown at all, you want to get on your feet - it's not so easy - you need to make an effort - you want to lower your legs and push them out. By the way on the beach you can take chairs and sit in the sea.

Though this photo is just a small detail of a street scene, it is one of my favorite shots from China. I took this photo outside of a factory building in Shenzhen. I love the contrast of the green tree and red pipe against the blue and white tile wall...and the fact that they both seem to have faces is a bonus.

This is photo of the Khiva Citadel. Now this is town in Uzbekistan but Khiva is one of old cities of ancient Khorezm, the pearl of eastern middle age architecture and was founded n the 5th or 4th centuries B.C.
According to the legends Khiva was founded by a son of Noah.

This photo was taken on our travel to Japan. We visited Hase-dera temple in Kamakura which host a massive wooden statue of Kannon.
The temple grounds are split in two levels and also include an underground cave. In one of the level you can find thousands of Jizo statues estimated to have reached 50,000 since world war 2.

Kulekhani Dam is located in Markhu village of Makwanpur district of Nepal. The river is 7 KM in length and is the largest man-made lake (in Nepal), for Kulekhani Hydropower project. It is only a three hour ride from the capital Kathmandu. The place is peculiar for hiking, fishing, trekking and main attraction is boating - it makes you feel as if you are floating upon on shiny diamond flame.
