My trip to South Moravia region of the Czech Republic, part 1!

in #travel7 years ago

Hello friends,

I got back from my mountain-biking trip in South Moravia only few hours ago feeling pretty exhausted. That is not surprising after cycling around 160 km and sampling little too much wine. I go to South Moravia at least two times a year with my friends since this truly is an amazing part of the Czech Republic. If you are planning your visit of the Czech Republic and have couple of days to spare then I would definitely recommend visiting this beautiful part of the country. If you are active then cycling in this region is just perfect. Even though you need to be little fit to do that it is not a hard-core mountain biking as this part of the country is pretty flat with moderate hills.

We do have our favorite places to stay but this time we discovered a perfect place where we will be staying next time. My friend organized a private tour of winery called - Vinarstvi u Kaplicky in little south Moravian village of Zajeci. The place got a lot of interest lately from a popular Czech movie that was made here. It is pretty affordable to stay here with the price of around 70USD for a twin room including breakfast. It is a great facility with beautiful views, small gym and infinity pool. The summer is usually the best time to visit this place and makes it a perfect trip to escape overcrowded Prague. It also perfectly located since it is not far away from beautiful Chateau Valtice and Unesco Heritage Site of Chateau Lednice. It does take little over two hours to get to Zajeci by car out of Prague and this is the location I would not recommend using the public transportation such as trains and buses as it is quite a headache. The best way would be either renting a car or using a private transportation company.

Below are few pics from Vinarstvi u Kaplicky - http://www.vinarstviukaplicky.cz/ - a perfect place to stay when you plan to visit!

From here it is only around 15 km to Chateau Lednice that is part of Lednice-Valtice area, natural complex reaching almost 300km2. In 18th and 19th century Lichtensteins built it hand in hand with nature. Since 1996, this garden of Europe, has been registered in the Unesco World Heritage list. Decorated with lancet windows, oriels and battlements and, embraced by huge gardens. If you want to live a true fairytale then you truly have to visit this place.
