3 Days Pokhara Royal Bike Trip /// Riders On The Storm + Video

in #travel6 years ago

We were sitting in our best spot in Pokhara, the OR2K restaurant and thinking what to do next, because our visa was running out of time.

DSC03096.JPG

I don’t want to rush, Yan said, let’s stay in Nepal for 15 more days, extend our visa and will see how it goes, this country is so different and beautiful, we just have to stay longer. I said, no problems at all, actually this is what we wanted, no rush, just peace and joy.

The next morning we went to an immigration office and extended our visas.

After that we thought, what if we take a bike for few days and just ride around Pokhara, see some nice places and just be on our own. So we did, because why not?

DSC03029.JPG

We found the bike (Royal Enfield) we can hire for 3 days (24$ per day + petrol), packed our stuff and hit the road, without knowing what is waiting for us. The guy from our hotel suggested to go to a small village Hemjakot which was about 20 km away. We left Pokhara around 1 pm and started our adventure.

It felt so good to be on bike and not like the others would choose scooter or Pulsar, we wanted something more or less comfortable and retro-ish. As soon as we felt the wind in our faces it reminded us about our childhood, because we basically grew up on bikes, Yan maybe a bit more, but anyways it felt good :D

DSC03031.JPG

Everything was going well till the moment when it started to rain...actually it was a storm and we had to stop in a local cafe for one hour till the nature let us go.

Yan didn’t want to wait anymore, so we started to drive even if it was a bit rainy. It got cold, because we were going up in the mountains and we didn’t have any raincoats or something warmer to wear.

DSC03024.JPG

We got to a place where we needed to turn to get to Hemjakot and we were kind of surprised of what the road was :D The road was complete swamp and because of that the bike got stuck and we saw that the road is going even more up, so we turned around and went back to Pokhara to have a dinner and book a guest house where we can stay for the night.

Checking the options for guest houses we found one up on the hill only for 6$ per night, we booked that one and the purpose of booking this place was to see the sunrise. We paid for lunch and started our way to a guest house. We thought that we are going to get there before it gets dark, but we didn’t :D

Google maps showed us a place of our booking so we were following it. After that our phones died, it got completely dark and we were driving through the forest which was kind of a scary thing...luckily, some houses showed up and we started to ask local people how to get to Countryside Guesthouse, they just showed the direction and we continued our way. Bumpy road, rain and many more reasons made me jump off the bike and just walk while Yan was driving.

DSC03011.JPG

Somehow we got to one hotel but we weren’t sure if it is the one. We saw the guy who was standing on the stairs of the hotel and we told him that we have a booking for tonight and he answered that didn’t receive any bookings and told that maybe we are at the wrong place. We said that we don’t know where to go and it’s very cold. Gladly, the owner of this as seemed to be a resort, he welcomed us and asked about our problem.

I can say that night was like a miracle or a magic or how else I should call it I don’t know.

So the owner was so kind and helpful, he didn’t want to kick us out because it is not polite, he offered us a room for 20$! 20$!!!!!!!! 20$ instead of 40$. Can you believe how happy we were? And that place was literally from the heaven...the paradise!!! The garden was full of flowers and other plants, the view from terrace was incredible, we were so inspired!!

DSC03015.JPG

We spent the whole evening talking with the owner about EVERYTHING!!! He is an anthropologist and in general very intelligent and wise person. Philosophy, relationships, dreams, the current world and many more topics were discussed. After a such a great conversation evening we went to our room and we were even more surprised, the bed was soooo comfortable and the room soooo cozy, ahhh, can’t even express the feeling.
After a well slept night we woke up and when I opened the curtains we saw the magical place we were staying at, absolutely spectacular! The waiter served us a light breakfast and we couldn’t enjoy it more...the garden itself was like a breakfast :D

DSC03006.JPG

We left our best staying place around 11 am and started the second day of our Pokhara Royal Bike trip. The owner of Rock Garden Resort suggested us one village (Panchase) we can go to. It’s 2 hours driving and is located at 2500m (Pokhara is 900m). We decided to go there, but first we just wanted to have a ride without plan, just driving where our eyes take us and in this way, we felt the freedom itself and absolute happiness.

DSC03035.JPG

The clock was ticking and we had to move to Panchase already. We bought some snacks and left Pokhara one more time.

Driving through some villages the road was very bumpy, so I couldn’t feel my butt anymore :D and then as always it started to rain seems like rain loves us, that’s why we thought about Riders on the storm :D It couldn’t get worse, the road was quite steep and we had to ride a bike using first gear only. We were completely wet and still about 40 minutes to ride, at least we thought so... because of the rain the road was muddy and the bike was slipping like on ice, we had to push it in some places, it was so fun, but when it repeated for the 5th time it wasn’t so funny anymore :D

DSC03086.JPG

And finally we saw some houses up in the hill, we were so happy to see them. Clothes were wet and dirty just like the bike, we were hungry as well. After 15 minutes we were in the guest house, the owner made a tea and Dal Bhat for us and after the dinner we went to bed. The room was very cold and we had to hug each other very tightly and then we fell asleep.

The 3rd day of our adventures started early in the morning, we left the guest house and started our way back to Pokhara. We didn’t rush, made some stops for pictures and just to feel the moment. When we arrived to Pokhara the first thing we did was driving to a restaurant, because we were starving...as always:D After the lunch we had about 3 hours left till giving the bike back. So we just enjoyed the chaotic traffic of Pokhara.

Here is our first video about one of the Riders on the storm days :D Check it out and let us know what you think about it.

P.S. We changed the bike because of the problem with breaks.

Extreme hugs to you ❤️

Yours,

Extreme Romance
