One of our favorite dive spots . near Chumphon, Thailand

My experiences and how I made it until now, traveling around the world, living and working in different places and cultures.
Many of you guys will recognize themselfs, specially in this particular story.
I'm starting from the very beginning but I do not want to bore you with a long story, rather share anecdotes.
Not in an orderly fashion though.
Feel free to check my stories and get in the groove...
Steemit is actually loosening up, or better said, shaking up my life… especially my personal history.
Even though my memory is extremely bad, if I really want to share my adventures...I need to dig very deep and go back to my roots. Remember the best and the worst experiences, so I would enjoy them again and not make the same mistakes.

As I’m living in Kampot, Cambodia now, it’s a bit far from my hometown Antwerp, Belgium to quickly pop over there and open up all the shoeboxes filled with memories. So I gave this task to my dear mother to take pictures of pictures which will slowly bring back the course of my life. Also my mom will be excited, with all different emotions.
So while we're waiting, I’ll tell you now, a small part of a big search for my financial independency while traveling.

Akways a lovely walk and hang out on the riverside. Kampot, Cambodia

GETTING REALLY RICH, was not my ambition as a young traveler.
This changed a lot over my following adult years. More in the sense of reaching a state of financial freedom, enjoying life with my wife Yuris @yurodidit in abundance. Not have to worry about bills or the price in the menu of a good restaurant and no more endless searching for the cheapest flights towards tropical destinations.
Go left instead of right when you step on the airplane ;)

Our jungle house looking over Ao Yon Bay. Phuket, Thailand

So there we were at that time (6 years ago), living on the island Phuket in Thailand, running out of cash again.
Trying to find all kinds of excuses to ‘escape’ the idea of going back to grey Belgium. That was the moment I started looking into the potential of the internet and all the virtual businesses that were created. I thought, this is THE future and was (still am) convinced that this was the road I want to follow.
This means I can work from anywhere, at any time and as much that I want as long there is an internet connection.(in our case, a long one)
And all this, in perfect harmony with our adventurous lifestyle.

Cooool !!
After following a few paid courses, buying some extra books and strategies for startups online, I got completely overwhelmed. Couldn’t see the end of the tunnel by far because of the endless stream of info, daily emails with the latest tips & tricks and of course a lot of ‘YouTubing’.
Here, a very short video, Yuris recorded just in that time I was exploring 'working online' in our jungle house. To give you an idea of the vibe in the middle of nature..

They even have a name for this, ‘ Analysis Paralysis ‘and I was already started to wonder if this was really something for me as I’m also not that good with computers and maybe better off, keep engineering (building our boat) and make art…

The art I made in that same periode. 'Natural Mood Lamps'

Then suddenly, out of the blue on the www, an add popped up > FREE WEBSITE and clicked on the link … A bit skeptic after seeing a lot of FREE ‘tricks’ that always ended up with a ‘Secure payment’ and many credit card- option buttons.
I gave it a chance to look into this one and got really excited after watching the introduction video.

For sure you all know these ones.

FINALLY! This is it, The Turning Point, no more struggling with learning HOW to make a website with all its technical stuff like HTML, CSS, FTP, PHP (say what!?) and a dozen other things you have to learn before getting a website online and start making some money with it,… FOR FREE!
Yeah right !
The creator, a really smart guy gave me a full functional website where I only had to pay for my domain name and comes with a 30 day- step by step course how to start a profitable business online, without the BS …
There I was, already half way and on the right track, just have to personalize the web page a bit more with WordPress, start Blogging and following the course.
Then it’s time to start promoting it ($) and say hello to my PayPal regularly … until I found out that I’m just paying to promote HIS 'products' with all his affiliate links that already were installed on MY website.
So, end up working for somebody and the small commissions, didn’t really fit into my plan . Ok, I learned a fair bit more so not really a big waste of time, just a wake-up call .

Our main project in that we were building next to the jungle house.
(Took us 7 years to finish this catamaran 'Haka' an other interesting story coming your way...)

Stay tuned and keep your eyes open for the sequel of this particular story because it's going to turn into a crazy ride, sure not the way it was suposed to be,...I promise.

Thank you for folowing me and all you other Steemers,...Hop on board.

Hasta la proxima

Absolutely, live the life you love and love the life you live.Making the best out of it. Being (or want to be) a digital nomad is in my opinion, the best survival tactic in this time and we have to grab this chance. I have the feeling that Steemit is the right 'escape plan for many people like us and I love it...
How is your internet business growing and is it working?

@frankhappa

Remember the best and the worst experiences, so I would enjoy them again and not make the same mistakes.

And you can write about those here on steemit. I traveled in Cambodia before but not really spent a lot of time in there. I guess next time I will revisit this country.

I hope you would continue writing here on steemit, this is an amazing community!

GETTING REALLY RICH, was not my ambition as a young traveler.
This changed a lot over my following adult years.

I totally can relate to this! We need more financial freedom.
