RE: England, The Gift Of Apple Crumble, And A Dairy Farm

in #travel9 years ago

What a wonderful story @fairytalelife! I love reading how non-English people view us English, especially Americans for some reason. I am so glad you have some experience of my homeland and reading this piece I must confess to being just a little homesick (I never get homesick) So many foreigners I have met would say "Oh! You're English.... From London? I've been to London" as if London is all there is in England, so it pleases me greatly that your experience of my country is from a small village in nowhere East Anglia and you were privileged to meet, and come to know a true English Battleaxe, as I would probably call her, but not to her face of course hehehe. Anyway, I ramble. Great post, thanks for sharing my friend

@handsolo - totally understand when you say " Your English ...from London?" -we get this all the time at the moment here in Egypt. Initial we said no - 5 hrs drive away, but it got to complicated as they didn't understand that London is not the only 'town' in England...now we just nod and say YES.

@ladypenelope1, sometimes that's all you can do. I have a post coming about Egypt. Where do you live over there?

Cairo ! 96 million and rising- its definately different so be prepared. Will look forward to reading your post :)

Yes! It is just easier hehehe

Battleax! yes, @handsolo. How funny. She told us she was called this. Well earned title indeed! Where are you living then? Thank you for your sweet comment.

hehehe Wonderful stuff!
I live on the island of Margarita which is part of Venezuela. I've been here for just under 11 years.
I very much enjoy reading your posts @fairytalelife. Have a great day :D

Thank you, @handsolo. I will look it up on a map. My South America geography is rusty! It sounds like a beautiful place.
You too, my friend.

That's right! I think it's because they've no heard of anywhere else - or they don't think they have... we say, "Nottingham... where Robin Hood lived." And they suddenly know another city in England.
Still, I've also noticed the Scottish are all assumed to live in a castle lol

hehehe but of course! And we're all friends with the Queen :P

My Canadian friend says I speak exactly like the Queen... I'm pretty sure I don't!

:)

We are not amused lol
