Lucerne, Switzerland in 3 days; Day 1

in #travel6 years ago (edited)

First time blog post from an avid traveler and I`d like to share some of my traveling adventures and itineraries for anyone who is either new or experienced in the traveling field. I have now been to the beautiful Swiss Alpine town of Lucerne, Switzerland twice in the past several years. When I say beautiful I mean gorgeous, its surrounded by the 4th largest lake in Switzerland ( Lake Lucerne) as well as stunning views of Mount Pilatus, Rigi, and Bürgenstock surrounding the city and lake. Below you will find my step-by-step guide for perfectly spending 3 days in Lucerne!

First you will need to book a hotel/hostel for the duration of your stay. I would highly suggest finding anything located in or closely around Alstadt (Old Town) part of Lucerne as it is walking distance from the Hauptbahnhof (Train Station) and main shopping/dining areas. My personal recommendation would be Hotel Weisses Kreuz right in the middle of town as it offers beautiful views of the lake in the mornings. CIMG5948.JPG

Day 1: Your first day in Lucerne should consist of familiarizing yourself with the city by taking walks through the various alleys filled with Swiss souvenir shops, clothing stores, farmers markets, and a cant miss chocolate shop. A few things you can see along your walk throughout the city are The Kapellbrücke (Chapel Bridge) along Lake Lucerne and the famous rock carved "Lion Monument" which commemorates the Swiss Guards who were massacred in 1792 during the French Revolution.
