Close to the border of Chili, South of the Uyuni Salar, the Laguna Colorada is the perfect home for thousand of Andean Flamingos. The laguna is a shallow salt lake within the Eduardo Avaroa Andean Fauna National Reserve. The water red coloration is due to red sediments and pigments of certain types of algae living there. The tones of the water range from shades of brown to intense reds depending of the weather and the time of day.
