What To Do In Cuzco? - SEVEN TIPS FOR VISITING MACHU PICCHU

I'm from Peru and one of my biggest dreams was to visit Machu Picchu, and yes, I did it.
One of the most wonderful experiences in my life, I was able to know one of the 7 wonders of the world and I was in my country, a national pride. But today I did not want to write about my dreams, if not, I will tell you about my experience in Cuzco and how you can travel there and know Machu Picchu, after all, it is not as difficult as it seems.

FIRST ADVICE: TRANSPORT

If one of the biggest inconveniences to travel to Machu Picchu is the price of transportation to go to this wonderful place, then let me tell you that it is not as expensive as many tourist companies do.
If you are from Peru, you have two options, if you live in the capital, air travel could be one of the most feasible options for you, neglect, the price may vary by seasons. Therefore, you should be aware of the promotions made by travel agencies by season, the ticket can be worth up to $ 30. A complete bargain!
If you are from another country, then the first thing you have to do is buy a direct ticket to the capital, Lima, and from there buy another ticket to the Alejandro Velasco Astete International Airport in Cuzco. Knowing these wonders is not so expensive after all, as it is worth it.

SECOND ADVICE: ARRIVING AT CUZCO

Now that you are in Cuzco, the first thing I recommend is to go directly from the Airport to the Wanchaq Station of PeruRail. It is important that you do this first, because depending on the season, tickets for the train from the City of Cuzco to Aguas Calientes (where Machu Picchu is located) are sold out very quickly and if your budget is tight and you want to reach buy commercial tickets that cost 10 soles or $ 3.50, it is preferable that you go with days in advance.

CLARIFICATION: Tickets can not be purchased online, due to the demand.

THIRD ADVICE : GOING TO OLLANTAYTAMBO

Now that you have the tickets, I recommend you do not stay in the City of Cuzco, despite its low prices, you have the possibility to go to Ollantaytambo to make your trip more flexible, it depends on you. But you can rent a mini van to take you to the city of Ollantaytambo, which is 2 hours away from the City of Cuzco.
In Ollantaytambo you can find a variety of craft shops that live there and very good prices in hotels and food that you can consume there.

REMEMBER: Ollantaytambo may be the escape to save a lot of money you get to spend in Aguas Calientes, I'll explain why later.

If you decide to spend the night in Ollantaytambo, I recommend you do them if you have already secured the ticket for the train that takes you from there to Aguas Calientes.
The train by address has unique schedules that are at 6 in the morning, 10 in the morning, 3 in the afternoon and 6 or 7 at night. Due to the demand, the trains are almost always full at these times, so you need to be attentive and preferably travel at 6 in the morning so you can appreciate Machu Picchu at its best.

FOURTH ADVICE: COURSE TO AGUAS CALIENTES

If you follow my advice, and you sleep one night in Ollantaytambo, in the morning of the following day you can go calmly to Aguas Calientes.

PLUS: I recommend you leave your heavier bags in a hotel in Ollantaytambo, and bring a simple backpack with necessary things to Aguas Calientes, since you will have to walk a lot in Machu Picchu.

Once you have taken the train, you can feel calmer, you are closer to reaching the goal. Approximately, it takes between 1 and 1 hour and a half to get to Aguas Calientes. Once there, you can go to find breakfast.
Again, if you have a tight budget, I advise you to go to breakfast at the small market that is next to the station, because the prices are very accessible to all travelers and treat you with great kindness.

FIFTH ADVICE: MACHU PICCHU

Now the good starts, if you want to go to Machu Picchu, you have to do the following:

First:You must go to the department of the Ministry of Culture that is a few meters from the station and the Plaza de Armas, where you can take a picture with the "INCA". There, you must buy your entry ticket to Machu Picchu.

ATTENTION: Prices vary a lot, depending on whether you are a resident, live in the country or are a foreigner. Yes, the prices do not exceed $ 50, so quiet.

Second: You have two options, you can go on foot, so you can get to know the different landscapes that are before reaching the Inca City, or pay an additional price in an agency near the Department of Culture, which includes a bus It takes you directly from Aguas Calientes to Machu Picchu.

ATTENTION: As well as the entrance to Machu Picchu, the prices also vary in the price of the bus, so I recommend walking if it is your first time going to Machu Picchu, it will be an amazing experience.

Third:The buses have departure times, so if you opt for this option, you will need to be with half an hour in advance to avoid delays in the departure.

SEVENTH ADVICE : RETURN TO OLLANTAYTAMBO

One of the things that I suffered the most in Cuzco and you have to admit, was the train back, if you go in high season, you are forced to buy a ticket much more expensive because they give preference to residents. Keep this in mind so that you can organize your time in Aguas Calientes.
By the way, if you are going to visit the city of Cuzco, do not forget to go through the Plaza de Armas, visit the Cathedral and the Koricancha.

¿QUÉ HACER EN CUZCO? 7 TIPS PARA VISITAR MACHU PICCHU

Soy de Perú y uno de mis más grandes sueños era visitar Machu Picchu, y sí, lo cumplí.
Una de las experiencias más maravillosas en toda mi vida, pude conocer una de las 7 maravillas del mundo y estaba en mi país, un orgullo nacional. Pero hoy no les quería escribir sobre mis sueños, si no, voy a hablarles de mi experiencia en Cuzco y cómo ustedes pueden lograr viajar allí y conocer Machu Picchu, después de todo, no es tan difícil como parece.

PRIMER CONSEJO: TRASNPORTE

Si uno de los inconvenientes más grandes para viajar a Machu Picchu es el precio del transporte para ir a este maravilloso lugar, pues déjame decirte que no es tan caro como lo hacen parecer muchas empresas turísticas.
Si eres de Perú, tienes dos opciones, si vives en la capital, el viaje en avión podría ser una de las opciones más factibles para ti, descuida, el precio puede variar por estaciones. Por eso, debes estar atento a las promociones que hacen las agencias de viaje por temporada, el pasaje te puede llegar a valer hasta 30$. ¡Una completa ganga!
Si eres de otro país, pues lo primero que tienes que hacer es comprar un pasaje directo a la capital, Lima, y de allí comprar otro pasaje al Aeropuerto Internacional Alejandro Velasco Astete en Cuzco. Conocer estas maravillas no sale tan caro después de todo, ya que vale la pena.

SEGUNDO CONSEJO: LLEGANDO A CUZCO

Ahora ya que estás en Cuzco, lo primero que te recomiendo es ir directamente del Aeropuerto a la Estación Wanchaq de PeruRail. Es importante que hagas esto primero, debido a que dependiendo de la temporada, los boletos para el tren de la Ciudad de Cuzco a Aguas Calientes (lugar donde se encuentra Machu Picchu) se agotan muy rápido y si tu presupuesto es ajustado y quieres alcanzar a comprar los boletos comerciales que tienen un costo de 10 soles o $ 3.50, es preferible que vayas con días de anticipación.
ACLARACIÓN: Los boletos no se pueden adquirir de manera online, debido a la demanda.
En caso que no encuentres boleto, puedes optar por costear estos servicios, a partir de $60.

TERCER CONSEJO: YENDO A OLLANTAYTAMBO
Ahora que ya tienes los boletos, te recomiendo que no te hospedes en la Ciudad de Cuzco, a pesar de sus bajos precios, tienes la posibilidad de ir a Ollantaytambo para que tu viaje sea más flexible, eso depende de ti. Pero puedes alquilar una mini van que te lleve a la ciudad de Ollantaytambo que está a 2 horas de la Ciudad de Cuzco.
En Ollantaytambo podrás encontrar variedad de tiendas de artesanos que viven allí y muy buenos precios en los hoteles y la comida que puedes consumir allí.

RECUERDA: Ollantaytambo puede ser la escapatoria para ahorrar mucho dinero que llegas a gastar en Aguas Calientes, te explicaré por qué luego.

Si decides pasar la noche en Ollantaytambo, te recomiendo que los hagas si ya tienes asegurado el ticket para el tren que te lleve de allí a Aguas Calientes.
El tren por dirección tiene horarios únicos que son a las 6 de la mañana, 10 de la mañana, 3 de la tarde y 6 o 7 de la noche. Por la demanda, los trenes casi siempre van llenos en esos horarios, por eso necesitas estar atento y preferiblemente viajar a las 6 de la mañana para que puedas apreciar a Machu Picchu en su máximo esplendor.

CUARTO CONSEJO: RUMBO A AGUAS CALIENTES
Si sigues mi consejo, y duermes una noche en Ollantaytambo, en la mañana del día siguiente puedes ir viajar tranquilo a Aguas Calientes.

PLUS: Te recomiendo dejar tus maletas más pesadas en un hotel en Ollantaytambo, y llevar una mochila simple con cosas necesarias a Aguas Calientes, ya que vas a tener que caminar mucho en Machu Picchu.

Una vez tomado el tren, te puedes sentir más tranquilo, estás más cerca de cumplir la meta. Aproximadamente, te toma entre 1 o 1 hora y media en llegar a Aguas Calientes. Una vez allí, podrás ir a buscar desayuno.
Nuevamente, si cuentas con un presupuesto ajustado, te aconsejo que vayas a tomar desayuno al pequeño mercado que se encuentra al lado de la Estación, debido a que los precios son muy accesibles para todos los viajeros y te tratan con mucha amabilidad.

QUINTO CONSEJO: MACHU PICCHU
Ahora comienza lo bueno, si quieres ir a Machu Picchu, tienes que hacer lo siguiente:

Primero: Debes ir al departamento del Ministerio de Cultura que se encuentra a pocos metros de la Estación y de la Plaza de Armas, donde podrás tomarte una foto con el “INCA”. Allí, deberás comprar tu entrada de ingreso a Machu Picchu.

ATENCIÓN: Los precios varían mucho, dependiendo si eres residente, vives en el país o eres extranjero. Eso sí, los precios no sobrepasan los $50, así que tranquilo.

Segundo: Tienes dos opciones, puedes ir a pie, así podrás ir conociendo los diferentes paisajes que se encuentran antes de llegar a la Ciudad Inca, o pagar un precio adicional en una agencia cercana al departamento de Ministerio de Cultura, el cual incluye un bus que te lleva directamente de Aguas Calientes a Machu Picchu.

ATENCIÓN: Así como la entrada a Machu Picchu, los precios también varían en el precio del bus, así que te recomiendo ir caminando si es tu primera vez yendo a Machu Picchu, será una experiencia asombrosa.

Tercero: Los buses tienen horarios de salida, así que si optas por esta opción, necesitarás estar con media hora de anticipación para evitar retrasos en la salida.

SEXTO CONSEJO: DISFRUTA

¡LO HICISTE! Llegaste a Machu Picchu

La ciudad inca es maravillosa, disfrutarás cada momento en el que estés allí, enserio, no te decepcionará. Cada paso, será una nueva maravilla que descubras.
Ya no te doy más spoilers, te darás cuenta tú mismo ;)

SÉPTIMO CONSEJO: DE REGRESO A OLLANTAYTAMBO

Una de las cosas por las que más sufrí en Cuzco y hay que admitirlo, fue el tren de regreso, si te vas en temporada alta, te ves obligado a comprar un boleto mucho más caro porque le dan preferencia a los residentes. Ten en cuenta eso para que organices tu tiempo en Aguas Calientes.
Por cierto, si vas a visitar la ciudad de Cuzco, no te olvides de pasar por la Plaza de Armas, visitar la Catedral y el Koricancha.
