3일째 날이 밝았습니다. 걱정을 많이 했지만 다행히도 날씨는 좋았습니다.
아침에 일어나 뜨거운 물을 끓여 컵라면으로 아침식사를 준비하며 주전자의 물이 끓기를 기다리던 중 아침 공기를 쐬기 위해 밖으로 나왔다가 지난 이틀동안 보지 못했던 수영장을 발견했습니다. ^^;;
제가 묵었던 숙소는 Hekerua Lodge 라는 배낭여행족들이 주로 머무는 곳인데 이렇게 풀장도 있습니다. 미리 알았다면 좋았을텐데... 쩝ㅠ
셋째날 아침 10시에 체크아웃 하기로 되어 있어서 풀장에는 들어가 보지 못하고 그냥 떠나와야했는데 좀 아쉬웠습니다.
It was the last morning of my Christmas holiday adventure in Waiheke island. Although I was quite worried about the weather, fortunately it was clear, lovely sunny day.
I went outside to get some fresh air while I was boiling some water for my instant cup noodles. And I found out the swimming pool that I hadn't seen for last 2 days. ^^;;
The place I stayed, Hekerua Lodge Backpackers, was mainly for backpackers and it also got this pool and some toys. It would be wonderful if I knew that before...T^T
Well, I needed to check out at 10am, so I had to leave without experiencing the pool :'(
혼자서 밖의 테이블에 앉아 컵라면을 먹고 있는데 다른 일행이 옆에 와서 함께 앉아 이런저런 이야기를 나누며 아침을 먹었습니다. 이 일행은 숙소 건물 옆 부지에 땅을 며칠동안 빌려 가져온 개인 텐트를 치고 묵었던 사람들이었어요. Hekerua Lodge에서 텐트 사이트를 빌리는 것이 저처럼 방을 빌리는 것 보다 약간 더 저렴했던 것 같습니다. 텐트 사이트를 빌리면 건물 내에 화장실, 부엌, 데크 등등은 무료로 사용할 수 있습니다. 비가 온다면... 낭패겠지만요^^;
I was eating noodles alone at the table outside after water was boiled. Some people came to me and join my small breakfast. They also came to Waiheke for their Christmas holidays. Apparently they brought their own tents and booked tent site, instead of rooms. It was a bit cheaper to book the tent site rather than book the room like me. They could use the facilities such as toilets, shower, kitchen deck and swimming pools for free. It looked great although it would be quite difficult to handle if it was rainy...^^;
아침을 먹은 후 짧은 만남을 뒤로 한채 체크아웃 시간이 되기 전에 짐을 싸서 발길 닿는 곳으로 마음대로 걸었습니다. 가는 곳마다 해변이 펼쳐져 있는 아름다운 광경이 인상 깊습니다. 한 사람이 강아지를 데리고 해변에 산책을 나왔네요.
After having a breakfast, I left Hekerua Lodge and walked again. Beautiful landscape everywhere! There was a person having a walk with his dog.
길을 계속 걷다가 하구처럼 보이는 강(인지 시냇물일지 모르는 물줄기)의 끝자락에 다다랐습니다. 작은 강이 이어져 바다로 흘러들어가는 곳이었습니다. 제가 걷고있는 도로가 마치 물을 가르듯 나 있었습니다.
This was the end of river (or maybe it was just a stream, I don't know). It went into the sea once it passed here.
날씨도 좋고 바다 위에 둥둥 떠 있는 요트들도 많고. 어디에나 그림같은 풍경이 보입니다. 바닷물도 에메랄드 빛이 도는 게 참 아름답네요.
There were a lot of yachts floating. The weather was great. The water looked like a huge sized Emerald stones.
지나가다 보니 염소인지 산양인지 모를 석상이 서 있는게 재미있어서 앞에서 사진도 찍었습니다 ㅋㅋㅋ 얼굴은... 도저히 봐줄 수가 없는 꼴에 머리스타일은 전인권 뺨쳐서 예의상 가렸습니다^^;;;
I saw a funny status which looked like a goat (or sheep?) and I took this picture. hahaha, my face was... so horrible, I told you in the last episode that the German girl roommate let me bitten by a number of mosquitoes during the night time by opening the window..
Even my hair style at that moment was so disgusting so I tried to hide my face ^^;; haha.
그렇게 하릴없이 걷다가 특이하게 생긴 건물을 보았습니다. 왠 커다란 관광버스가 그 건물 주차장에 멈춰서더니 많은 사람들이 쏟아져 내렸습니다. 뭘까 궁금해서 가까이 가보았습니다.
Then I walked again.. and I saw one funny looking building. Suddenly, a big travel bus parked at the parking lots of that building and so many people came out from the bus and went into the building. I was curious what's going on and I went in there with them.
흐드러지게 피어있는 꽃 덩굴 아래에 커다란 드럼통?이 보입니다. 건물 안에 들어가봤더니 와이헤케의 와인과 올리브유 같은 포도와 올리브로 만든 제품들을 파는 곳이었습니다.
와이헤케는 와인으로 유명한 것은 알았지만, 올리브도 있는 줄은 몰랐습니다. 잘게 자른 빵을 올리브유에 시식하는 코너가 있어 와이헤케의 올리브유는 어떤지 한 번 먹어 봤는데 칼칼한게 약간 매운 맛 같이 강하게 났습니다. ^^;;
올리브유면 기름일텐데 매운맛이 난다니 이상하지요? 저도 예상치 못한 매운 맛에 놀라서 콜록거렸는데 직원이 (예상과) 많이 다른 맛이냐며 친절히 물 한잔을 건넸습니다. 강력한 올리브유 대신 와이헤케의 꿀 제품을 하나 사고 다시 길을 나섰습니다.ㅎㅎ
It was a shop selling wines and olive products (like olive oils) and some honey products. I knew that Waiheke is well-known as the island of wine but I did not know that olive is also their main products.
There were some testing corner for those olive oil with some small pieces of bread and a bit of each oil in white small plates. I dipped one piece of bread into one type of oil and tried.
It was so spicy! That was the first time ever I tried olive oil in my life. It was quite weird to me that the olive oil tastes like spicy paste, not oily oil. :0 I coughed a few times and one of staff kindly brought me a glass of water saying "It's quite different, right?".
I bought one honey product rather than olive oil and left the shop.
구불구불 이어진 길을 걸으며 언덕을 올랐습니다. 간간히 선선한 바람이 불어오긴 했지만 햇볕이 강해 땀이 비오듯 쏟아졌습니다. 너무 더워서 가져온 우산까지 양산 삼아 쓰고 걸었습니다. 도로는 한적했고 보는 사람 하나 없어 별로 부끄럽지 않았습니다^^;;
꼭대기가 눈앞에 보이기 시작하자 금세 힘이 솟는 것 같아 더 열심히 걸었습니다.
Then, walk walk and walk. Sometimes there were some winds cooling down on me but the sun was so hot. I was very sweaty and my shirts was damp. I even wore my umbrella to hide from the sun shine haha. The road was quiet and empty, nobody was looking at me. Without feeling shame, I kept on walking. ^^;;
And I saw the top of the hill, which made me encouraged!
나무 숲속을 헤치고 나온 곳은 드넓은 바다가 시원하게 펼쳐진 오네탕이(Onetangi) 해변이었습니다.
The ocean welcoming me after I got out of the foresty hill was Onetangi beach.
언덕 꼭대기에서 본 탁 트인 해변은 3일 내내 여행하며 봤던 바닷가 중에서 가장 아름다웠습니다. 바닷가엔 사람이 열명도 채 보이지 않았습니다. 드넓은 바닷가와 새하얀 모래사장에 아무도 없이 혼자 있는 기분이 꼭 아무도 없는 무인도에 혼자 있는 것 같은 이색적인 기분이었습니다.
It was the most beautiful beach I had ever seen in my adventurous trip for last 3 days. There were not even ten people on the beach. The wide, empty beach made me feel like "I am the only one owning this whole beach!" haha. I even felt like I was on the uninhabited island. It was such an interesting experience.
언덕에서 해변으로 내려오는 길을 따라 걸어와 화장실에서 수영복으로 갈아입고 바다에 들어갔습니다. 주변에 아무도 없어서 모래사장에 잘 보이는 곳에 짐을 대충 두고 바닷물에 들어가 시원하게 수영을 즐겼습니다.
Once I reached the beach, I went into the public toilet and changed into the swimsuits. There was no one around me so I put my luggage on the sandy beach and went into the water to enjoy swimming.
사진으로 드넓은 바다를 다 담을 수가 없어서 동영상으로 찍어봤는데 세로로 찍어서 그런지 잘 느낌이 전해지질 않네요ㅠㅠ
I also took the video to describe what I could see at that moment more accurately but I took it portrait not landscape.. I don't think you can fully feel the same thing what I had felt there.. sorry.
바닷물은 뜨거운 햇볕과 대조적으로 정말 차가웠습니다. 언덕을 오르며 흘린 땀을 시원하게 식혔습니다.
The water was cold compared to the sun shine. I could cool down and wash out the sweat.
수영을 마치고 가까운 곳에 있는 수돗가에서 씻은 후 옷을 갈아 입고 해변 바로 옆에 있는 레스토랑에 갔습니다. 생각보다 레스토랑엔 사람이 많았습니다. 옆 테이블에 온 손님들이 데려온 강아지가 착하게 테이블 아래서 누워있어 찍어봤습니다.
After finished swimming, I had a quick shower at the nearby shower. Then I changed into comfy clothes and went to a restaurant close to the beach. There were quite many people in the restaurant. Customers at the next table brought their dog and she was waiting down there with a good manner. haha
테이블 아래 발치에서 꾸벅꾸벅 졸고 있는 모습이 너무 귀여웠습니다.
She looked pretty sleepy. lol so cute.
이윽고 주문한 식전 빵과 망고주스가 나왔습니다.
And I got my order. Some bread and a glass of mango juice.
그리고 이어 스내퍼(참돔)에 다양한 야채와 크림소스를 곁들인 메인요리가 나왔습니다. 지난 며칠 동안 그렇게 생선이 먹고 싶었어서 가게에 "오늘의 생선"이라고 되어있던 걸 주문했습니다. 주황색 꽃잎이 흩뿌려진 접시가 탐스러워 보였습니다.
Then this was the main dish which is a snapper filet with various chopped vegetables with creamy sauce. I was craving for fish for ages and I ordered "Today's fish" menu displayed at the entrance of the restaurant. Some flowers were scattered on the dish making the dish even more tempting.
바다가 바로 내다보이는 레스토랑의 데크에서 조용한 식사를 즐기며 모처럼의 여유로운 여행의 마지막 날을 만끽했습니다.
It was so nice to enjoy the beautiful landscape, the weather and the quiet, delicious meal. I really enjoyed it so much.
식사를 마친 후 짐을 들고 다시 해안을 따라 걸었습니다. 레스토랑에서 멀지 않은 곳에 선착장으로 향하는 버스 정류장이 있었습니다. 핸드폰으로 버스 시간을 확인한 뒤 버스를 타고 바로 선착장으로 발을 옮겼습니다. 지갑에 고히 모셔두었던 선박 왕복 티켓이 있나 확인하고 배가 오기까지 선착장에서 기다리기로 했습니다. 선착장엔 꽤 사람이 많이 있었습니다.
After finishing the lunch, I walked alongside the beach. There was a bus stop not that far from the restaurant. I checked out the bus arrival time to go to the ferry terminal with my phone. Then, I went to the ferry to go back to where I belonged to.
There were quite many people at the ferry terminal.
선착장에 오리커플이 뒤뚱뒤뚱 걸어가는 것이 보였습니다. 그런데 생각해보니 바닷가인데 오리가 있는게 좀 이상하지 않나요?ㅋㅋ 오리 커플을 쫓아가며 사진을 찍고 있는데 마침 제가 타야하는 배가 선착장에 도착했습니다.
I saw a random couple of ducks at the ferry terminal haha. I just realised it is indeed pretty awkward that ducks at the ferry terminal...! (Ducks usually live nearby fresh water...?) hahaha
I was following them to take some pictures and at the time, the ferry I had to ride just came.
마지막으로 섬에서 발을 떼기 전에 혼자서 찰칵-
저때는 셀카봉같은 것도 없었을 때라 핸드폰을 기둥같은 거에 올려놓고 저 구도가 나오도록 찍느라 배 못탈 뻔 했어요 ㅋㅋㅋㅋ
Before I left, I took my last selfie.
Well, that time, there was no such thing like selfie stick, so I made an huge effort to make the camera point me correctly hahaha. I could have missed the ferry because of that lol
배에 올라 선내로 들어가 창가에 앉아 멀어져가는 섬을 바라보았습니다. 넘실거리는 파도와 구름이 흘러가는 파란 하늘. 점점 작아지는 섬의 모습에 아쉬움도 들고, 나중에 또 오고싶다는 생각도 들었습니다. 그렇게 저의 짧은 여행은 20대 초반의 소중한 추억이 되었습니다.
오클랜드에서 배로 20분에서 30분이면 갈 수 있는 섬, 와이헤케. 뉴질랜드 오클랜드에 계시면서 멀리 여행가긴 부담스러우신 분들께 추천드립니다^^ 시리즈 읽어주신 분들 정말 감사합니다~
I got into the ferry and sat nearby the window. The island was getting smaller and smaller. The blue wave on the ocean and the clear sky with light clouds... the island with green grass really made me want to stay or visit here in the near future. Just like that, my short adventure became a precious memory of my twenties.
Waiheke, everyone can visit there by taking a ferry for 20 to 30 minutes from Auckland, the beautiful natural island. I recommend this island to people who live or visit Auckland but do not want to go too far to enjoy the untouched nature.

날씨는 어떤가요~~??
하핫, 그런가요? 여행가서는 모처럼의 여유를 즐겼지만 이민생활이라는게 생각보다 만만치는 않답니다ㅠ 저때가 벌써 지금으로부터 4년전이었는데 학교 가기 전에 혼자 학비 벌어본답시고 일주일에 쓰리잡하면서 70시간 넘게 일했어요^^;;;
개처럼 벌어서 정승처럼 쓴다는 게 딱 맞는 표현이었던 것 같네요 ㅋㅋ ㅠㅠㅠㅠ
뉴질랜드는 남반구라 한국이랑 계절이 반대에요. 지금은 추운 겨울이라 비도 많이 오고 바람도 완전 칼바람이 장난 아니게 불지만 ㅠ 저때 여행간건 크리스마스 전후라 더운 여름이라 대체로 맑은 날이 많았어요 ^^
헉 70시간....
저도 요새 일하는데 버는건 어려운데 쓰는건 왜이렇게 쉬울까....이런 생각을 자주 하네요 ㅜ
맞아요.... 쓰는 건 한순간인데 정작 통장 잔고를 보면...ㅎㅎㅎㅎㅎㅎ 헛웃음만 나옵니다ㅠ엉엉
