A day in Vietnam
Vietnam has much to offer in terms of food. Their dishes tend to be very complex and rich in flavours. An interesting mix of Chinese food and French cuisine makes just exploring the food of the country an adventure on its own.
I recently visited Ho Chi Minh, the capital of the SEA country and want to share a few photos of my adventure.
I'll add here that I experienced it in such a way that I tended to just order something from street side restaurants, not really knowing what I was eating. I'd say that's the best way to try though as you won't be biased by your idea of the taste.
The image above is not really food of course but it’s part of the curriculum of the trip. Vietnamese coffee is delicious and is something that can’t be skipped. In this case I had it in the morning to start the day but during my trip I visited plenty of coffee shops!
The dish shown here is….well I don’t really know. It was described on the menu as soup with crab meat and snail. Sounded like an interesting soup to me. Something like the above mentioned mix of Chinese (or maybe South East Asian) food mixed with French cuisine. It also came with plenty of condiments which I couldn’t recognise (please let me know in the comments if you do).
The third dish of the day was the famous pho. Though actually from the north of the country, it was also found plenty in Ho Chi Minh. Of course there were plenty of condiments which are very common in Asian dishes, so that you can add your own flavour of sweet, sour, spice and bitter.
