Why you should visit Askania Nova in the Kherson region, Ukraine. Part 1

in #travel6 years ago

I have long been going to publish this material, just did not reach the hands. But, finally, I decided to share with you my emotions and vpetaleniyami (there is a photo, and a little video)!

Every year at the end of May in the biosphere reserve Askania Nova (Kherson region, Ukraine) an All-Ukrainian seminar-meeting on the theme "Development of sheep breeding in the market conditions" is held.

This year was no exception. Askania Nova greeted the guests on May 24. It was not only guests from the Kherson region, but also from all over Ukraine. The exhibition is held in several stages: first an exhibition of pedigree and commodity sheep from the leaders of the sheep industry (photos below). In addition to the sheep themselves, at the exhibition you can see various tools and equipment for servicing the sheep themselves. As a souvenir, it is fashionable to purchase various brochures, literature and interesting crafts.

After the end of the exhibition, you can conclude beneficial contracts with representatives of enterprises.

After the exhibition, a shearing competition is held. The best cuts from both regions and from all over Ukraine take part in it. This year, guests from the Odessa region took part. Winners and participants receive cash prizes and incentive certificates.

In addition to the competition and solemn part, guests and exhibitors are treated to a delicious shurpa and pilaf, cooked according to a special recipe. If you manage to visit the exhibition - try it, you will not regret it.

The second part of this seminar is a meeting of entrepreneurs and guests, on which important problems and prospects for the development of sheep breeding are discussed. Anyone can attend this seminar. But, I will say right away, this is quite a boring part of the exhibition.

We decided to take a walk for a while in the Ascania arboretum, and then we were waited by a safari in the steppes of Askania Nova. I will tell about this in the next post.
