Barangay Catarman is one of the beautiful barangay in Cordova. It has 4,923 population and 1,067 households. Before we tackle more about Catarman, let us first know its named Catarman. Do you know the origin of the name Catarman? Let me tell you a really short story about where catarman's name came from. Based on interview there was a mananagat or fisherman lost in the sea these mananagat are from Bohol. While exploring they found an island which is Cordova. They accidentally achored or stopped in the beach of Catarman. All of the sudden, they got hungry so they gathered their food and eat together, after eating they noticed they don't have water left. Their water must have run out while they were sailing for days at the beach. Because of the thirst they've experienced and suffered. They become desperate from time to time hence they set on a search and looked for a water after hours of looking they came across a bahay-kubo. An odd looking house but they did not hesitate and have no doubts, they went inside and look for water. Finally! they found a jar of water. They rapidly go towards the jar and drunk so fast like someone is chasing them. The the water because of they drunk the water but it taste SALTY! VERY SALTY! After drinking they shout together "catagman" they were all grumpy and learned their lesson, not to steal. That is why they called that place "catagman" it is from the indigenous word "tagam" which mean "lesson learned". It was called "catagman" for how many years until the people living out there called it "catarman" that's how catarman got its mysterious name CATARMAN!

Okay! Lets move on to our journey to Catarman. This barangay is not that huge but they intend to maintain to a peaceful environment. In line with this, people in Catarman have their own unique way of living some are selling drinks like halo-halo, ice buko, gulaman, ice candy, and other affordable drinks. Some also went fishing and others are making bulad. They can really afford or easily went fishing for the reason that Catarman is just near from the sea. That's why numerous people here go fishing for their living.

Barangay Catarman is abundant in dried fish. As I go along in my journey, I saw a lot bularan. I interviewed few people who owns the bularan. The first person I interviewed said “he was running his business (bularan) for 15 years! What a year”! He also stated that he don’t really own the bularan, his boss gave it to him. His been working for his boss until such time his boss saw that he was working very hard and his boss appreciate his hardships. His boss gave the bularan to him.
